Green & Gold Wedding [Guest] Look

It’s the start of a new week and I’m settling in back at home. If you’ve been following me in my last few posts, you know that I was away for a long weekend in Chicago for my friends’ wedding. I shared some looks from the wedding festivity filled weekend and I’m topping it off with the look I went with for the official wedding ceremony and reception.

I got a beautiful dress for the occasion from Nordstrom Rack. Since it’s from Rack, you know I got it deeply discounted which makes it even more beautiful! It is essentially a champagne slip with a sheer emerald green overlay. The overlay is lace, with bits of sequins and light green beading.

I paired the dress with a dirty bronze colored clutch that features a large bow and gold sequins, wide strip and light gold heels. I also wore large, faux diamond studs.

The only thing I don’t like about this dress is that there is no zipper. A slip on dress is fine, but the dress is so fitted that putting it on is no problem, but taking it off is a huge challenge!! I had to have my friend help me pull it off over my head!

To change it up, I straightened my hair for the evening. If you missed it, I got a body wave for the summer because I think it’s a great summery hairstyle, not to mention you don’t have to blowdry! I was going to blowdry my hair for the wedding – I brought my large round brush and everything and have a voluminous blowout, but I was running around all day that I didn’t have time. So while getting ready, my friend straightened my hair with her straightener and I loved the pin-straight look with this dress!

I wanted to go simple with my makeup because it was sooo hot outside and the first portion of the ceremony was outside for this traditional Indian wedding. Since I’m on the groom’s side, I was outside for a while for his entrance. I didn’t want to go too heavy on the makeup because I knew I was going to be sweating within the first 20 minutes of the entire event!

I wore:

  • IT Cosmetics CC+ Full Coverage Cream
  • IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye
  • Revlon Photoready Concealer
  • bareMinerals Well Rested
  • Neutrogena Mineral Powder
  • Urban Decay Naked Flushed Blush/Highlight/Bronzer Palette (Naked)
  • MAC Paint Pot (Painterly)
  • Lorac Unzipped Gold Palette
  • Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara
  • Wet n Wild Brow Kit
  • MAC Fix+

I also brought a bareMinerals lip gloss with me, but in this picture I’m just wearing my Nivea lip balm. You can get a better idea of the beading on the dress with that up-close shot of me. Overall, I was really pleased with my look for the night! I was expecting my hair to go wavy with the crazy humidity and then sweating while dancing the night away, but surprisingly it stayed straight all night!
