Winter Jewel Tones

Tomorrow may be the first day of spring, but with the unpredictable weather I figured I can’t go wrong sharing this winter jewel toned look. Usually when you think of jewel tones, pastels don’t come to mind. They seem like colors of opposite seasons with jewel tones being more for the winter with their richer colors and pastels for spring and summer since they are so light colored. But then again, we tend to pair lights and darks together so why wouldn’t they go together? I suppose just the label of “jewel toned” and “pastel” make them seem like they aren’t supposed to go together.

Well, I wore a light pastel purple sweater with burgundy stretch cords mixing the two. Just those two alone would be a cute, casual outfit, but I decided to dress it up and style the outfit with a statement necklace. The cluster necklace is so pretty and features gems of all different jewel tones. Honestly, it always makes me think of the holidays because it’s just got that holiday opulence feel to it, so I think it did the job of taking this look up a notch and more jewel toned heavy. And because the necklace has both jewel tone gems like the emerald colored ones mixed with pastel colored gems like the lilac colored ones, it really ties the whole look together.
