Rosalita’s Roadside Cantina
When you have friends that have moved a little farther away you have to find places to eat that are somewhere between you location-wise. On one of my recent lunch outings with a friend we went to Rosalita’s Roadside Cantina.
The inside of the restaurant and some of the menu reminds me of another popular Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant near me that is well-loved by many, Jose Tejas. At the risk of being yelled at by some of my friends next time they see me, I don’t really get the hype about Jose Tejas. Yes, it’s good, but it’s not so ridiculously good that it’s worth the 2 hour wait (yes, I’ve waited that long before) for a table. Last time I went there, my friend and I planned for an early lunch because it gets so busy. We had a 15 minute wait at 11am! Anyway, Rosalita’s reminds me of Tejas, but much less crazy so things were already looking up.
I loved the decor inside the restaurant. I love when Mexican restaurants have multi-colored lights up. It makes it look so festive. And yes, it looks empty inside, but we went right when they opened and it started to fill up by the time we left.
We got the empanadas as an appetizer, which were so tasty! The bed of cole slaw was delicious too.
For my entree, I got the Hawaiian Pork Burrito. Definitely not your standard Mexican fare, but something about the sound of the pork carnitas and grilled pineapple just sounded too tempting.
It was definitely worth it and I don’t regret my unconventional choice! Overall, my experience at Rosalita’s was great. The service was good and the food, delicious. Definite plus that I didn’t have to wait a lifetime to be seated! I would definitely go back and try out some of their other offerings.
