My First Trip to Top Golf

Top Golf may not be new to some of you but the first one in New Jersey just recently opened so it’s new to me. I’d heard of it for a long time now because I knew of its existence in other states. If you’re unfamiliar with Top Golf it is a place for golf related games, food, and drinks. Think bowling, but with golf. I don’t know if all Top Golf places look the same or are set up the same inside, but the one by me has 3 floors. When I went with some friends we were lucky enough to get a bay on the top level.

We had to wait about 20 minutes for an available bay to play but it wasn’t bad because there is a lot to do while you wait. There’s a bar, pool tables, TVs, and more. There are different games you can play but all of these colored circles are “targets” that you want to hit with your golf ball. Each golf ball has a chip so the computer can tell where your ball went and calculate your score. High tech!

This ended up being a lot of fun and I see myself going back to play again! The one thing I didn’t like is that it was very chaotic in the lobby area. I don’t know if this is due to the fact that this particular Top Golf venue is relatively new or if it’s just always crazy. It was chaotic because there are so many different desks to go to. If you’re a first time visitor you have to first go to the registration desk. Then, you have to go to the kiosk to get your lifetime membership card. Then, you have to go to the concierge desk to put your name down for a bay. Um, kinda ridiculous. But other than that, it was a good time!

And if you’re wondering how I managed to play outdoors without freezing there is heat on top so we were nice and toasty!

I wanted my friend to take a picture while I played but he insisted on taking a video instead. So now you get to see just how awful I am. I improved throughout the two hours but I’m still pretty terrible. My friends play actual golf so gave me some good tips but nevertheless it’s not a pretty sight – fair warning!

I’ve heard about it too but haven’t been there yet. The closest one to me is four hours away :/ thankfully they are building one less than 30 minutes away from me. This sounds like a lot of fun, is the membership pricey?

Oh you’ll have a good time there when the one by you is built! No the lifetime card is only $5 and I actually used a code from online and got the card for free. If you register online before going it saves you time in the registration line and you can go straight to the kiosk desk to get your card printed.
