D’Or 24K Facial Peeling

We all know (and I’m sure try to avoid) those mall kiosks where they try to grab your attention with skincare products and promises to make your skin look amazing. I am usually very good at avoiding these kiosks. The key is to walk by like you’re in a rush to get somewhere and not make eye contact. But a few weeks ago, I totally got suckered in. Here’s what happened, I was walking out of a store and feeling pretty happy with myself for some good finds and deals. I totally had my guard down so I got blindsided by this woman selling D’or 24K products. Before I could even say anything she had already gotten me in her clutches and started spreading product on my wrist! I was totally prepared to watch her do her thing and then say “no thanks” and walk away, but then I was mesmerized by all the dead skin coming off of my wrist. I didn’t even know I had dead skin on my wrist!

So I got talked in to buying this facial peel which has real gold flakes in the gel. You use it 1-2 times a week (the website says twice but the woman told me once) and it exfoliates your skin. Here’s what the website says it does:

“D’OR 24K Facial Peeling starts with a glycolic acid called Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA). AHA has the unique ability to attract moisture and stimulate healthy collagen production, even in dry or sun damaged skin. And as the old skin cells are washed away, pores appear smaller; fine lines and wrinkles disappear, too. 24 karat gold and green tea boost collagen even more, leaving you with extraordinary looking skin.”

So how do I like it? I’ve used this 3 times now and there was a little bit of a learning curve. The directions say to apply a small amount to your damp face and rub in circular motions. I think the first 2 times I did it my face was still a little too wet so it took a while for the exfoliating to start taking place. It felt like I was just moving product around my face until finally my dead skin started to pill and slough off. What I realized was that it was starting to do this once my skin was drier because I had been rubbing for so long. So on the 3rd try I dried my face more (you do this after washing/cleaning your face first) and it worked so much better and quicker. My skin definitely feels so much smoother immediately after using this and I can’t wait to see how the long term effects will be.

This is really pricy at $195 a jar on the website. I got this from the mall kiosk for an insanely good deal of only $50 and I think it was so worth it. Is it worth $195? I really like it, but I don’t think I’d pay that much! So I definitely hope that stand is still there at the mall so I can repurchase when I run out. I don’t think I’ll be running out any time soon though as a small amount does the trick.

I even had my mom try using it and she loved it on her first try. So I might need that 2nd jar sooner rather than later!

There is an accompanying moisturizer, but the saleswoman was actually great and not pushy and didn’t try to force the moisturizer on me. She was really honest and told me that this peel does an amazing job and really if you’re using it then it just makes any moisturizer you’re using soak in so much better and makes the moisturizer that much more effective.

If you know of any other peels that I should try, let me know!
