    Galavant

Galavant is described as a “comedy, musical, fairytale” and that’s exactly what it is. For months, I’d been seeing the ads on TV for this “comedy extravaganza” that would last 4 weeks so I was intrigued to say the least. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a fan of musicals so that made me even more interested. I know some people are really anti-musicals so I assume those who are would not be as interested. As we’re now halfway through the series (season 1?) I thought I’d share my thoughts on the show. Galavant isn’t your typical show by any means, which I think is part of its appeal. It’s full…

Covert Affairs – Annie Walker Fashion

Covert Affairs – Annie Walker Fashion by lifeaccordingtojamie featuring dresses I had been meaning to write a post at some point about how I love pretty much all the fashion choices on USA Network’s shows. The people responsible for wardrobe on all these shows should get awards because seriously, I think on every show I’ve ever seen on the network the fashion is amazing. Anyway, the post or idea for the post kept getting pushed back by other ideas and other time sensitive posts. ******************************************************************************* Now the network’s show, Covert Affairs, has been canceled after 5 seasons and I am so sad about it! If you don’t know, the show follows…

    BBQ Chicken Crescent Rolls

I’ve been eating Pillsbury Crescent Rolls for as long as I can remember. Besides the one or two times when I was younger and made pigs in a blanket or the year I was obsessed with filling the dough with cream cheese and jam (what I learned in 7th grade Home Ec class), I’ve been eating them just plain – rolled out from the tube and baked. I’ve been noticing lately (and these things might have been around for ages but I just didn’t notice) that there are suddenly a million different recipes and food ideas involving crescent rolls. A few weeks ago I made Barbecue Chicken filled Crescent Rolls…

    Photo Challenge: Shadowed

Looking for a shadow or the right circumstance to get a good picture that plays with light and dark is not easy. I feel like a lot of times when those shots happen it’s unplanned and just so happens to end up being a really cool picture or you spot it spontaneously and take a picture so when I saw that the new photo challenge from The Daily Post was “Shadowed” I knew I was in for a challenge. Shadow, from natural light, that isn’t for lack of a better description boring or ordinary is really difficult and can feel forced. I spent the week taking random pictures of the shadow…

    Diamond Jacquard Sweater

LOFT, one of my all-time favorite stores (if you couldn’t tell by all the clothing I own from there), had a 50% off sale right after the holidays. This diamond jacquard sweater was calling my name and I couldn’t just ignore it! Top: LOFT Pants: LOFT Shoes:  Chinese Laundry via DSW Watch:  Fossil The sweater is so soft and cozy – perfect for a chilly, winter day. It’s a little fuzzy so I was afraid it might be itchy, but I’m happy to report that I was not scratching away while wearing it! It is a mohair and silk blend with the diamond jacquard stitching and light grey trim on…

    DIY Plaid Nails

Plaid has been the pattern of the fall/winter for clothing in terms of tops and scarves and even coats, but now even for nails. I saw a lot of really cool plaid nail art designs online, but some looked really elaborate and others were just a bit too complicated for me and I’m not a nail  art expert by a long shot. I took a few different tutorials I saw online and created what I thought I would be able to do with little difficulty and also what would work for my nails. I used OPI’s “Red”, Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens in black and silver and a Revlon top coat. These…

    Gold Studded OOTD

Happy Wednesday! Just 3 more work days to go and I get a 3-day weekend! I know it seems like my winter break just ended, but really I cannot wait for this long weekend. Backtracking a little, Mondays are the worst, aren’t they? To make my past Monday a tiny bit brighter, I wore a top with a gold studded front. Top: Express Pants: Express Watch:Kate Spade I love the gold studs on this light taupe, beige top. It is from over a year ago and I’m loving that the embellished top trend is still growing! This particular top adds a bit of edginess to an otherwise ordinary top and as I’ve said before,…

    Peking Duck at Home

I’m not sure whether to say “It’s already Tuesday/almost Wednesday!” or “It’s only Tuesday?!” Yeah, it’s been one of those days. I’m trying not to stress too much and mentally reminding myself to take things one thing at a time. I actually have a lot of work to do, but in order to prevent seriously flipping out, I am taking a little break for an hour or two, watching my fav TV guilty pleasure – Hallmark Channel movies that I have on my DVR from over the weekend and writing this here post! Ok, enough of that – let’s move on to this Peking Duck from home. If you read my…

Yea or Nay: Large Infinity Scarves

Infinity scarfs have been popular for quite a few years now, but this is the first year I’m seeing really large ones. I found this one at Target and loved the hot pink with the specks of color in the soft, cozy material.   I styled it with a white oversized sweater that has gold zipper detailing at the shoulders and at the front, bottom sides, black leggings and my Classic Tall UGGs. I debated wearing a navy blue sweater because I really like the pairing of navy blue and hot pink, but I decided to go with the white sweater to allow the scarf to take center stage.  …

    Cobalt Blue Shawl Collar

Cobalt blue has been on my brain lately. I think I’ve talked about it at least 3 times in the past week or two. This outfit post is definitely not as glamorous as my earlier Golden Globes fashion post, but welcome to every day, real life! Last week, on our coldest day of the season thus far, I knew I wanted to wear something really warm but still work appropriate to work. Overnight the temperatures dropped below 0 with the wind chill so I knew I was going to be walking into a freezing room when I got to my classroom. I’ve mentioned it before, my classroom has bad insulation so…
