    Throwback Thursday: Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is this Sunday, December 7th. I thought I’d do a throwback Thursday post this week and share a few pictures from when I went to the Pearl Harbor Memorial this past August. This photo is from the boat ride from the shore to the USS Arizona Memorial. They let only a certain amount of people onto the Memorial at a time and you have a certain amount of time before you have to get back onto the boat. It’s basically 1 group (boat full) at a time.     It’s a pretty surreal experience to be there and see everything. This memorial is built where the…

    Black & White Geometric Print

Back to basics after a long weekend. The long weekend for Thanksgiving was nice and much needed. It’s the longest break I’ve had since August. Mondays are always hard, but the Monday after a break is the worst. It’s like you’re starting all over. So this past Monday, my OOTD was definitely a back to basics kind of day. I wore black and white, but mixed it up a bit by wearing a geometric print top. Top: Express Pants: Loft The top is loose and wide at the shoulders. I think if you wore it more casually, you could wear it off one shoulder, but obviously I didn’t do that since I was…

    Mockingjay, Part 1

Have you seen Mockingjay yet? I saw it over the long weekend with my cousins who were visiting and as a fan of the book series, I really enjoyed the movie. I read the books so long ago now, that I don’t really remember all the details – just the major ones. I also can’t remember if there are a lot of differences between the book and the movie, but overall the movie was full of action and emotion and was very entertaining. What I initially liked about the series is that readers and viewers saw Katniss as a strong, young woman who could take care of herself. She doesn’t depend on…

    November Favorites

The holiday season is definitely upon us and the last month of the year has begun. I can’t believe it’s already December! Here is a round-up of some of my favorites from the month of November. Some are included in the little collage below. November Favorites by lifeaccordingtojamie featuring Sigma Beauty makeup brushes Favorite Makeup Item: I had a hard time deciding what was my favorite item of the month in terms of makeup. I decided on the Smashbox Photo Finish More than Primer Blemish Control Primer. This primer is so silky smooth and feels like a moisturizer. It’s a nice change from the silicon-y type primers I’ve been using in…

    Hi-Lo Plaid Shirt

The day after Thanksgiving is not normally a day where people look and feel their best. You’re recovering from your food coma and if you ate throughout the day like me, you are definitely not about to wear that form fitting sweater on Friday. I decided to wear a loose fitting hi-lo plaid top. I absolutely love the colors in this plaid top. The purplish-grey and teal/turquoise stripes are a match made in plaid heaven. I was really tempted to wear leggings on that day, I even put them on, but then I decided to wear stretchy, skinny jeans instead because I was going out to dinner with my family…

    Thanksgiving Eats

Thanksgiving and food go hand in hand. It’s a time to reflect on everything you are thankful for and on a lighter note a time to eat to your heart’s content. Here are some snapshots of what I ate on Thanksgiving!   I had family visiting for the week and my cousin brought her fondue set. I love cheese and chocolate fondue so I was super excited for this! We had some cheese fondue as an afternoon snack before we feasted for Thanksgiving dinner.   We bought an electric fryer recently and decided to fry our turkey this year.   The turkey came out so delicious and moist, but left…

    Sephora VIB Haul

A couple of weeks ago I got the invitation in the mail for the Sephora VIB Sale. Since Sephora only has these 20% off sales two or three times a year, I definitely take advantage of them. I use these opportunities to stock up on items I’m running low on and buy some more high-end items since I have the discount. This time around I got: Caudalie Grape Water – I recently dedicated a post to this. I’m running low and wanted to purchase a back-up. Marc Jacobs Style  Eye-Con No. 7 Plush Shadow (The Dreamer) – I have been wanting to try something from Marc Jacobs Beauty for a…

    Photo Challenge: Angular

For the latest photo challenge from The Daily Post, I really couldn’t think of anything good. The challenge is “Angular”  and I had no ideas! So the best I could come up with were these stairs in my house. We have been doing some remodeling and these are our new stairs. They used to be carpeted and wood color bannister and posts. Now the posts are white, the bannisters are stained mahogany and the stairs are oak with a mahogany stain as well. It’s not the most creative interpretation of angular, but I like showing off the new stairs and the perpendicular lines of the posts meeting the steps is a nice view.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate! It’s hard for me to believe that it’s already Thanksgiving (and the day is almost over at that) time. Time really does fly. As always, I’m thankful for my family and friends near and far and all the wonderful things in my life. This year, as it is my first year of blogging, I am also grateful for all of you! All of the people who take the time to read my posts and visit my little corner of the Internet from all over the country and even all around the world – you really are amazing! It means so much to me and…
