    Skater Skirt OOTD

Skater skirts are so trendy right now and this gem has been in my closet for maybe two years, but I hardly break it out. If you can find the right length (because there are super cute ones out there that also happen to be super short) they can totally be work appropriate. This one could probably be shorter if I brought it up higher on my waist – it could very possibly be meant to be worn like that since it has such a wide elastic band, but I just keep it lower towards my hips and then it hits just above the knee. Sweater: Mossimo via Target Sleeveless Top: JCrew…

    Pistachio Cake

Every once in a while I’ll browse on Pinterest for some food, fashion, or craft ideas. Or to look longingly at the many jaw droppingly beautiful travel photos all over the site. I’m not one of those people who are on Pinterest daily though, I just never caught that bug. Today I bring to you my try at a recipe I found through the site and it was not a Pinterest fail at all, but a complete success! I made a pistachio cake and it came out looking pretty good and tasting pretty good too. I got the recipe here and it was super simple. The recipe calls for yellow cake…

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

I was recently nominated by Lindsey from Life Love Lindsey for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award! I’m so thankful that she thought of me for this blogging award. When I started this blog back in May, I wasn’t sure what to expect – just that it’s something I needed to try and I had no idea just how much fun it all would be and what a great community I would be joining! If you don’t know Lindsey’s blog, you should definitely check it out – she does great style inspiration posts! Now, onto the award details. Lindsey’s questions for me: 1. What do you like to do in your…

    Drape-Neck Dress OOTD

Continuing with my dress outfit of the days was easy last week since we were having a major heat wave to mark the end of summer. It was incredibly humid every day and the temperatures averaged in the mid 90s every day. I don’t mind since it means I can wear dresses and skirts for that much longer to work until the fall temperatures kick in. Well, I do mind a little because by the afternoon my classroom feels suffocating and my thoughts are taken over by how I’m starting to sweat. Wiping sweat off your forehead is not exactly glamorous. The other day I wore this drape-neck dress, which…

    Sigma Beauty Birthday Haul

My birthday was a few weeks ago and while I’m not thrilled to be getting older, I do use my birthday as an excuse to spoil myself a bit. I’ve been a fan of Sigma Beauty products for a few years now. They have great quality makeup and their brushes are amazing. I don’t order from them often, maybe once or twice a year, but when I do I try to make it count. Usually the things I want to get from Sigma aren’t on sale and their free shipping requirements are crazy. Seriously – you have to spend $1,000 to get free shipping. What?!?! So when I got an…

    Photo Challenge: Dialogue

Last Friday, The Daily Post posted their newest photo challenge – Dialogue . I have to admit, this was the toughest one for me so far. I understood the concept of it – place two pictures next to each other so that they talk to each other or interact in some way. Of course, it’s open to interpretation, but nothing came to mind quickly. I’m not very artistic, but it’s something that I want to nurture to become more creative. I decided to do a before and after picture using a candle. I love candles and light them all the time. But not with matches cause those scare me and I’m…

    Throwback Thursday: Diamond Head

Last month when I was in Hawaii, I went to Diamond Head Crater. Diamond Head is visible from much of Waikiki Beach and is an iconic site. It’s a state park and there is a trail that you can walk/hike up one of the sides of the crater. In case you don’t know, Diamond Head is a crater formed from a volcanic eruption 300,000 years ago. The trail is mostly paved because there are so many visitors. When I say paved, I mean packed dirt to form a trail. The trail was only 0.7 miles so it was by no means a long hike, but parts of it were steep because…

First Day of School: Teacher Edition OOTD

Yesterday was my first day back to work with the students. I knew it was going to be a scorcher out and although my building has air conditioning, my room has poor insulation so I knew my room would be really hot. I went with a lightweight, floral dress and even with that I was sweating by afternoon! Dress: H&M Shoes: Levity via DSW Watch:  Michael Kors If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I’m all about the floral prints so when I saw this dress I had to have it! It’s a bit sheer since it is such a lightweight material so I wore a camisole and…
