Puff Pastry Dessert – 2 Ways

Today, I have an easy dessert for you that looks a lot fancier than it is. I made dessert with puff pastry on two recent nights, two different ways. The first night, I had fresh strawberries on hand so I decided to make some whipped cream from scratch and fill the puff pastry with cream and sliced strawberries. So yummy! The second night, I had left over puff pastry, but no more whipped cream or strawberries. So what did I do? I filled it with ice cream! The desserts were something different from the norm and so good! I also didn’t feel guilty indulging since I cut the squares fairly…

    Rose Gold Rose Sweater

I hope you all had a great weekend! I’m off from work today for President’s Day so luckily it’s still the weekend for me, but tomorrow it’ll be back to the same old same old for me. Rose gold is one of my favorites in jewelry and in makeup. When I came across this sweater recently that had large rose embellishments on it in the form of rose gold beads I was sold. The design is fun and perfect for what I wore it to – a casual dinner with friends. Sweater: Apt. 9 Embellished French Terry Sweatshirt (Light Moonbeam) via Kohls Pants: Uniqlo Boots: Steve Madden Watch: Kate Spade The sweater, like the other…

Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award

The lovely Camila from The Geek Chick nominated me for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award recently and I thought today was the perfect day to write my post on it. I have actually been nominated for this award a few months ago and wrote a post here, but seeing as that was back in September I thought it’d be nice to do it again especially since these are different questions and Camila was nice enough to think of me! To begin, I want to thank Camila for nominating me! She was actually one of my very first subscribers and began leaving really nice and supportive comments from the get-go…

Review: Essence I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara

I’ve been using Essence’s I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara for over a month now so I’ve got a couple more weeks with it. You may recall, I mentioned before that I typically toss my mascaras every 2 months. I have very mixed feelings about this mascara. Read on to find out why! First, I need to say that the mascara definitely lives up to its name. Well, I’m not sure it produces “extreme, crazy” volume, but it does volumize my lashes and makes them appear fuller which is something I love. I’m always a fan of mascaras that can not only hold the curl, but make my lashes appear thicker…

I know red and pink are usually the go-to colors for the holiday, but I went with black, grey and white for a sleek look. Blazer: Calvin…

    Heart Pie-Cookies

I saw these really cute and really easy cookies on Pinterest a while ago and made a mental note (and pin) to make these around Valentine’s Day. Jenna from The Domestic Diva Diaries made similar cookies recently but hers were in pop form so you should check that out for something a little different! These pie-cookies were easy to make and were pretty quick to make. You’ll need a heart shaped cookie cutter, pie crust dough, filling (I used strawberry jam and tried a couple with nutella and marshmallow), milk and sugar. Don’t forget that you’ll need to make 2 hearts per cookie, because you’ll need one heart to put the…

    Photo Challenge: Scale

This past week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post was “Scale”. For a few days I thought I would do an aerial shot from either the Eiffel Tower or the London Eye and showcase the small views of sites such as Notre Dame or Big Ben from high up. Instead, I decided to go with something more personal. Here’s a shot of my best friend’s baby girl and I holding hands as she napped. In this picture she is less than a month old and was so tiny! As my friend and I chatted and hung out, baby girl grabbed onto my fingers and didn’t let go for over an…

    Polka Dot Tiers

I was in a girly/polka dot mood yesterday. This tiered top is sleeveless so I paired it with a thick grey, open knit cardigan. Guess what? I was still freezing at work! Sweater:  Express Top: Loft Pants:Express Watch: Anne Klein I love this dusty pink color because it added some color to my grey & black ensemble but it’s not in your face bright. It’s a delicate color to match perfectly with the feminine tiers of the top. In my Monday-Friday (but really Thursday because I have a 4 day weekend for President’s Day!!) makeup basket this week… Face: Smashbox More than Primer Blemish Control, Covergirl Tone Rehab Foundation, Benefit Erase Paste,…

    Valentine’s Day Nails

Okay, my latest DIY nail art turned out much better than last time! Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, I thought I would try my hand at some hearts on my nails to be festive. Also, heads up, I’ll be posting a couple different Valentine’s posts this week ranging from food to looks etc. so keep an eye out! Originally, my “vision” was to have either pale pink nails and red hearts or red nails and pink hearts. However, when I bought these Sally Hansen pens, red was sold out so I bought this bright pink shade instead. I wasn’t sure how it would show up on red nails so I…
