    Photo Challenge: Fray

This week’s photo challenge from The Daily Post is fray. The Daily Post suggested to take a picture of whatever the word “fray” would mean to you – whether it’s a frayed fabric or a fight that’s about to break out. I spent a few days thinking about what I could do for this challenge when the perfect “fray” came to mind. If you don’t know, my full time profession is teacher. I bring a large tote bag with me to work every day during the school year that carries books, papers, my lunch, and other little things like pens, highlighters etc. The constant use and the fact that I’m usually…

    Aztec Print Tank OOTD

Recently a few of my friends decided to have a barbecue at a local park. It’s something we used to do a lot back in college and is always a fun time. I wore a tank with an aztec print and denim shorts. I’m featuring this look just because I love the colors of this tank top. The bright pink and the multi-colored print is just so bright and happy! Top:  Aztec Print Top by Signorelli via Lord & Taylor Lace trimmed camisole:  Macy’s Shorts:  LC Lauren Conrad Cuffed Denim Shorts via Kohls Shoes: Old Navy flip flops Face: Tarte Clean Slate Poreless Perfecting Primer, Clinique Acne Solutions Foundation mixed with…

    Emmy Fashion: My Picks

I’ve loved award shows for as long as I can remember. Aside from my enjoyment of watching the actual award show (I mostly loved the openings because they’re usually funny and sometimes have some sort of funny musical number) I loved the red carpet pre-show as well. Even as a little girl I loved watching the red carpet to see what everyone was wearing and I loved how glamorous everyone looked. So it comes as no surprise that I was looking forward to this year’s Emmy Awards. Below are my picks for best dressed! Julia Roberts in Elie Saab – I think a short dress is so fresh looking and…

    Birthday OOTD

For me, as I get older, celebrating birthdays have taken on a different meaning. It’s less about a day or night to celebrate me (and I mean that in the least conceited way possible) and more about an excuse to get together with good friends you don’t get to see all the time anymore. I recently celebrated my birthday and kept it low key for a few reasons. One being that I had just gotten home from Hawaii that afternoon and the other being that I didn’t feel like making a big spectacle of my birthday, but instead just wanted to go out for drinks at a local restaurant/bar. Gone are…

    Hawaii: Food Highlights Part 2

I’m back with part 2 of my food highlights while in Hawaii. I recently posted Part 1 featuring delicious food I ate on the Big Island of Hawaii. Today, I’m going to feature food from Honolulu, Oahu. Hanajuban – Hilton Hawaiian Village, Honolulu, Hawaii – Nice spot for a quick lunch when we first arrived in Honolulu. It’s very small and the lay out is that of a noodle bar. Shoyu Ramen Bali Steak & Seafood Oceanfront – Hilton Hawaiian Village, Honolulu, Hawaii. Great service and ambience and the food was great. The malasada bites were like heaven and something my mom had been looking for our entire trip. Entree – Roasted mahi…

    Liebster Award Nomination

In the past week I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award by both Sophia from The Soapy Bubbles and Lindsey from Life Love Lindsey. Thanks again for the nomination ladies! With this award nomination, I will answer 11 questions posed to me and then nominate 5-11 bloggers to answer questions of my choosing. Sophia and Lindsey asked me different questions so I sort of chose a combo of 11 questions from the two sets – hopefully that’s okay! What are your top three beauty must have items? I’m not going to use specific brands, but 3 beauty items in general that are must haves for me are foundation, under-eye concealer…

    Striped Summer Dress

On my last night in Hawaii I wore this striped dress. The bright colors scream summer and it is lightweight and comfortable. The dress is strapless, but I wore a short sleeve cardigan with it because restaurants are always chilly with the air condition on.  Dress:  Derek Heart via Kohls Cardigan:  Mossimo via Target The dress hits above the knee and the purple strings on top can be tied any way you like. I have trouble keeping them tied, no matter how I knot them they always come undone! It’s not a drawstring, it’s just two strings that are stitched to the center. They also have little silver sparkly balls…

    Photo Challenge: Silhouette

This week’s photo challenge on The Daily Post was Silhouette. When I saw the post with the announcement last week my first reaction was “Noooooo!!” Let me explain. Last Friday I was packing up and getting ready to head home from Hawaii on an evening flight. I had no time to capture a silhouette picture before getting on the plane and Hawaii would’ve given me so many opportunities to get a good silhouette picture. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Since I’ve been home I haven’t gotten any silhouette pictures and truthfully I haven’t even been paying attention during sunset moments because of I’ve been busy seeing friends and running…

Sunset & Stargazing on Mauna Kea

One of the best things I did while in Hawaii was go up Mauna Kea on the Big Island to see the sunset and stargaze. My family and I went with Mauna Kea Summit Adventures which is the oldest company to offer tours up to the summit to see the sunset. I’m not talking about any old sunset. This is a view of the sunset from above the clouds! We were a little under 14,000 ft. up and it was nothing short of amazing. Hoodie: Victoria’s Secret Jeans: Gap  Our guide picked us up in a company van from our hotel. There were 14 people in our van not including our guide.…
