Book Review: Divine Rivals
I finally read Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross and it was so beautiful and worth all the hype.

Divine Rivals is the first book in the Letters of Enchantment duology. It follows Iris Winnow and Roman Kitt. In the world they live in gods that have been asleep for a long time have awoken and are at war. Iris’s older brother, Forest, left to fight in the war and her mother is not coping well so Iris was forced to drop out of school and begin working at a newspaper, which works for her in a way because she wants to be a reporter.
Iris is up for the columnist position and her rival, Roman Kitt, is her competition for the job. As Iris worries about her brother and tries to beat out Roman for the promotion, she writes letters to her brother on her typewriter at home and tucks the letters in her wardrobe since she doesn’t know where to send the letters. One night, a piece of paper slips out of her wardrobe and it says that isn’t Forest. Someone has been receiving her letters somehow through her wardrobe and it isn’t her brother. The two begin writing to each other and form a bond. Little does she know that the stranger she has become close with is none other than Roman. Will the rivals learn the truth? And what will happen as they come face to face with the war between these gods?
This book was so beautiful and I loved the story so much. Iris and Roman have my whole heart! I loved watching their relationship evolve and how much these “strangers” confided in each other. It was magical, heartache inducing, full of friendship and love, and just so good! The cliffhanger ending had my heartbreaking though so I am hoping that Ruthless Vows, book 2, has a really happy ending to the duology! I’ll be starting that tonight!
Read this if you want a YA fantasy romance with the enemies/rivals to lovers trope.
