    Scratch & Draw Book

I’m all about finding new, creative ways to relax and a few years ago I jumped on the adult coloring book bandwagon. A few weeks ago when Quarto reached out to me and asked if I’d like to try one of their Scratch & Draw books, I was immediately intrigued. Instead of coloring, the Scratch & Draw books give you pages of drawings and a blank page with a metallic coating to recreate the drawing on or create something on your own. With the included stylus, you draw on the blank page by scratching away at the metallic coating. I received the Scratch & Draw Enchanted Animals. I love the idea…

    Easter Eggs – Sleeping Faces

Happy Easter to all who celebrate! I decided very last minute yesterday to dye some eggs for the occasion. Last year I decorated plain white eggs with Flash Tattoo tattoos, but this year I decided to actually dye them. I started out with 6 eggs, but had 2 casualties so I ended up with 4. I dyed them green and blue and then drew on sweet sleeping faces.   I practiced drawing the faces on paper first to make sure I could do it well and they actually turned out better on the eggs than on the paper so that was a huge relief! I love the way these turned…

    Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope you had a good time doing whatever you wanted to celebrate the new year last night. I just got home from my Florida vacation last night so I just stayed home. I was so tired from the busy-ness of this past week at the parks and it didn’t help that my flight home yesterday was delayed 3 hours, so by the time I got home and ate some dinner I was really ready to pass out. With the new year comes a new planner. I got a larger planner this year and decided to get the Kate Spade Zodiac planner. It comes with pretty illustrations,…

    Snowy Mason Jars

Last year I made little snowy winter tree scenes in mason jars for a winter craft. I wanted to do another mason jar DIY this year so I’m back with a snowy or frosted mason jar. I saw a few ideas on Pinterest using epsom salt to create a snowy or frosted glass look so I decided to use those ideas as inspiration. I used: 3 mason jars epsom salt Mod Podge craft glue Christmas ribbon a paint brush hot glue gun battery operated tea light candles I painted on the Mod Podge around the mason jars and then rolled the jars in the epsom salt. I let them dry…

    Glitter Pine Cones

When browsing Pinterest for some fun winter DIY decor ideas I saw glitter pine cones. I had plans to buy fake pine cones from the craft store, but when I was visiting my aunt at her little weekend place upstate (New York) she had a whole basket full of pine cones from her yard. I took a dozen or so home and stored them until I had the time to do my little holiday craft. For this easy holiday/winter craft, all I needed was glitter, spray adhesive, burlap, and a wire basket. I took some cardboard outside and did my spraying and glittering out there. It was my first time…

    Pumpkin Planters

While browsing Pinterest (what else is new) I was looking for a fall decor craft/idea. I saw pumpkins being used as planters which I thought was a brilliant idea and really cute. However, I quickly found out that the one I originally saw was made using a plastic decorative pumpkin and when I tried to search for real pumpkin planters they were either done by real florists and elaborate or hot glued succulents on top of the pumpkin. But I didn’t see a reason why I couldn’t use a real pumpkin as a planter so that’s what I did! I went to my local farmstand and got 2 medium sized…

    Earth Henna

I have had real henna done twice before – both times for my friends’ weddings. I think it’s so fun and I’m always in awe of how quickly they create such a creative and intricate design. When Earth Henna reached out to me and asked if I’d like to try their at-home henna kits, I had to try them out! I chose 2 kits – the classic kit and the white lace kit. The white lace kit really intrigued me because I had never seen white henna before. Since it was different than regular, traditional henna I decided to try that kit out last week and that’s what I’m showing off…
