Tie Dye Tee Crafting Day
A couple of weeks ago my friends and I did our latest crafting hang out and this time we did a very summery craft – tie dye! The last time I tie dyed anything I think I was at a friend’s birthday party in high school and we tie dyed socks and headbands in her backyard during a bbq. So I’m definitely not an expert by any means. I looked at the different designs in the booklet that came with the kit and I decided to do one that was called a cluster design and didn’t require any rubber bands. I was just supposed to wet the t-shirt and then crumple/scrunch it up and squirt the dye on both sides. I was a little worried that there would be large chunks of white in the middle that wouldn’t get any dye but then I remembered that I didn’t use any bands and technically I could just unclump/unfold and re-clump/re-fold as I wished. I went with a blue/green/purple color combo. Originally I wanted to do blue/green/pink but for some reason I grabbed the bright purple and then just went with it. After I was satisfied with how much dye I used, I put it inside a ziplock bag to set. Later that night I rinsed it out under cold water and then washed it in the washing machine with just a little bit of detergent. I love the way it came out!

I think a tie dye blanket would be so much fun to do in the future but probably very messy to make!
