Book Review: What Eyes Can’t See
I was sent an early copy of What Eyes Can’t See by Paulette Stout and finished it just in time for its release tomorrow!

The novel follows Barbara and Sebastian. After her own engagement ended, Barbara gives her destination wedding to one of her best friends (Rebecca from books 1 and 2 in the interconnected Bold Journeys series). While away at the beach vacation, Barbara meets Sebastian and the two have instant chemistry and a whirlwind vacation romance. Neither wanting to say goodbye intend to continue to see each other when they get home as they both live in New York City. But, of course, nothing can be easy. The promotion to general counsel at Barbara’s company, that she was almost certain would be hers, goes to an outside lawyer – Sebastian. This catapults the story as Sebastian had no idea he was taking Barbara’s job and they both know that she was more than qualified for the job. So what happened? Well, Barbara is a black woman and Sebastian is a white man. When it becomes clear that their boss and other higher ups have purposely passed over or fired employees based on race, Sebastian and Barbara work together to find justice for Barbara and all the other employees who have been wrongfully terminated.
I really enjoyed this book, the characters, and the storyline. I didn’t feel as invested in the book or as hooked into the storyline as I was when I read What We Never Say (book 2), but it could’ve been a mood thing on my part because there was nothing wrong with the book or anything to dislike about it. Overall, I really liked the book and how realistic (sadly) the storyline was!
