Book Review: Flawless

I have heard amazing things about the Chestnut Springs series by Elsie Silver for a long time and I finally started it with book 1, Flawless. And I’m here to tell you it is worth all the hype! I have entered my cowboy romance era, which is why I had to wear my “Wranglin’ Books” tee from Inkwell Threads for this post!

This novel follows Summer Hamilton and Rhett Eaton. Summer is a recent law school graduate and her father runs a prominent firm that manages athletes. One of her dad’s biggest clients is rodeo star, Rhett Eaton. Rhett might be a huge star, but he’s been getting in trouble lately after a leaked video shows him talking about how much he hates milk and one of his biggest sponsors is a milk company. Now some of his biggest fans who happen to be farmers aren’t sure if they like him any more, because they think he’s criticizing their way of life even though his family are ranchers in Calgary, Canada.

Summer who is a recent hire at her dad’s firm has been given a new task – babysitter to Rhett Eaton. Her dad sends her to basically shadow Rhett, set up interviews for him, manage his schedule, and make sure he doesn’t get into any more trouble for the next 2 months until the rodeo finals. Babysitting Rhett for two months means being together all the time and staying with him at his family’s ranch. Initially annoyed to have to be together all the time, the two get to really know and understand each other with all that forced proximity. They are opposites, but really understand each other. They both battle different struggles in their lives. Can their feelings for one another trump their differences and personal obstacles?

I absolutely loved this book and Summer and Rhett! I was so hooked on this book that I read the whole thing in 2 days. I could not put it down. There was a twist or two that I did not see coming, which is rare in romance books! The characters were so good and the relationship development between Summer and Rhett was so good. The text messages that opened up each chapter were all so funny too. Knowing that this is a series and who the other books are about made me excited for the rest of the series when I saw them make their appearances in this book. The storyline was really good, it had funny and entertaining moments and also really heartfelt and emotional moments. The spice was good too! Clearly, I’m a fan!

Read this if you want a spicy cowboy romance with the forced proximity trope.
