Book Review: Below the Line
I’m chugging along with my tbr of books I have been sent for PR review and read Below the Line by Lowell Cauffiel this week. The genre of Hollywood Noir is not typically what I read, but I did enjoy this book!

The novel follows Edwin Blake and Warren Poole. Edwin Blake is a retired Detroit detective who moved to LA a number of years ago to consult on crime shows and movies. Everything was amazing when he first moved to LA and the work was good. But lately, it’s been harder to get work and he’s consulted on a string of projects that went nowhere. But when a big shot producer he’s worked with before, Jason Perry, reaches out to him and asks him to help him locate a woman and her daughter for a friend of a friend and in return he’ll make sure he gets work on his next tv show, Blake can’t pass it up. What he doesn’t know is that Warren Poole, a hired gun from Las Vegas, is also in town and has been hired to look for the same two people.
We follow as the two look for the mother and daughter and their paths intersect. There are a few little twists and turns that keep you on your toes and guessing what is really going on and who is really good and bad.
I enjoyed reading this book and I was definitely hooked on the storyline and kept reading because I wanted to see how it would end. I also couldn’t figure out exactly what was going on ahead of time. I liked the characters, but never got really invested in them, but maybe with these kinds of books you don’t really get invested in them. In any case, I liked the book and got through it pretty quickly!
