Book Review: Daisy Haites – The Great Undoing
I ventured back into the Magnolia Parks Universe this week and read the 2nd Daisy Haites book and 4th book overall in the Magnolia Parks series by Jessa Hastings – Daisy Haites: The Great Undoing.

This novel takes place during the same time as Magnolia Parks: The Long Way Home but focuses on Daisy Haites, Julian Haites, and Christian Hemmes. Of course, there is a little bit of focus on Magnolia too because during the a good chunk of The Long Way Home and The Great Undoing, she was with Julian. The novel picks up shortly after the end of Daisy Haites. Christian and Daisy aren’t together anymore because she wanted to leave this life (in case you don’t know – her brother Julian is the most powerful gang lord in England and Christian’s family are also gang lords but not as powerful as the Haites) after having a fall out with her brother. Christian wasn’t ready to just pick up and go because he was confused and also didn’t want to leave his brother and mom. Eventually Daisy ends up getting pulled back in to the life after months of “normal” life with Tiller (he was in the first Daisy book too. He’s an American cop working in London). Can Daisy ever have a normal life or is she always going to be a part of this organized crime life? She and Christian are both with other people but still in love with each other. Can they move on from each other or will they work it out?
Julian is the most powerful gang lord in England. His way of life and his past have taught him that he never wants to fall in love because he can’t get attached to anyone besides his sister – it would be too dangerous. But, he and Magnolia have always had a pull towards one another and she and BJ Ballentine are on he outs again. They start spending all their time together and hooking up but are not in a relationship. Can Magnolia love someone who isn’t BJ? And more importantly, how will Julian handle it when he realizes he loves her?
Some minor spoilers ahead!
I love these characters so much and am so invested in all of their lives. I need Daisy and Christian to be end-game! I do like Tiller so I hope he has a happy ending, but towards the end of their relationship he was not so great so I didn’t feel too bad for him. I also love Julian. I know Magnolia and BJ are meant to be and I am happy with that, but Julian really is a good guy and I hope he has a happy ending too. There are so many theories online that Christian and/or Julian is going to die in future books and I seriously hope that does not happen or I will riot! There’s a line towards the end where Magnolia says to Julian, “You are a very dangerous man, Julian, I know that. But I do hope that you know that above that and before that, you really are actually quite a good man.”
There’s one Magnolia Parks book left for me to read that is currently out. I really need Jessa Hastings to announce an update on the next book because her last update over the summer was that she hadn’t started writing the next one yet!
