Book Review: Throttled

Lauren Asher’s Dirty Air series has been on my tbr for a long time. I don’t know anything about F1, but I know there are a ton of fans and it really intrigues me. I finally read the first book in the series, Throttled, last week and enjoyed it.

The novel follows Noah Slade and Maya Alatorre. Noah is an F1 star, racing for Bandini, an F1 racing team. He is known as an American prince of racing as his father is a famous retired F1 driver. Maya is the younger sister to a rising star in the F1 worlds, Santiago Alatorre. She just graduated from college and while she figures out what is next for her, she decides to travel with her brother for the F1 season. She’ll get to travel the world with him and vlog about her travels and behind the scenes of the racing world. When Noah and Maya meet, they’re instantly attracted to one another. However, Maya’s brother is Noah’s former rival and newly turned teammate. Noah and Santi don’t always get along, so him getting together with Santi’s sister doesn’t seem like the best idea. Can the two stay away from one another?

I really enjoyed this book. Honestly, it wasn’t my favorite and I didn’t feel obsessed with the storyline, but regardless I was entertained and liked the characters. Noah and Maya were so cute together!

Spoiler: One thing to note, Noah’s dad is a famous former race car driver and has been abusive towards his son since he was a kid. It reminded me of The Deal. In The Deal, Garrett’s father is a famous, retired hockey player and he abused Garrett throughout his life. That aspect was similar, but I’m not complaining – I love The Deal.

Read this if you want a spicy sports romance with the forbidden love trope.
