Book Review: Pretty Rings & Broken Things

Last week I read the second book in the Black Tie Billionaires series by Kat Singleton, Pretty Rings & Broken Things. I enjoyed the first book, but I think I might have liked the second book more!

The novel follows Winnie Bishop, one of Margot’s best friends from Black Ties & White Lies. Winnie comes from a very wealthy family in the hotel business. When she falls for the wrong person who betrays her trust, her father makes a deal that will save her from having her scandal publicized. She will have to marry Archer Moore. The Moores are rivals to to the Bishops and have been enemies for years, but they agree to join forces to save Winnie from scandal in exchange for a stake in Bishop hotels.

Winnie and Archer may be in a marriage of convenience, but as they start to get to know one another and spend time together now that they share a home they realize they actually like each other and get along really well. It doesn’t hurt that they’re both very attracted to each one another! But will they be able to really be together when they’ve both been raised their whole lives to never trust a Bishop or Moore?

I really enjoyed this book and I loved that Margot and Beckham make appearances in this book too. I think Winnie and Archer were both really likable characters and I really liked their storyline. My one critique of the novel is that at times it felt like the author forgot that Winnie is rich and wrote her like she wasn’t. There were a few times where Winnie was in awe of something like Archer’s brownstone or the gowns she got to try on that Archer had set up at her bridal appointment. But, the Bishops are supposed to be comparable to the Moore’s and Winnie grew up just as privileged and rich as Archer so it’s weird that she would be so enamored by these things. I wonder if the author sometimes forgot about Winnie’s background, because we’re all so used to storylines where the mmc is rich and the fmc is middle class or struggling. But anyway, that’s just a little critique and otherwise I really liked this novel.

Read this if you want a spicy billionaire romance with the marriage of convenience trope.
