Escaping from Reality at the Bookstore

It seems like every day there’s some new crazy and upsetting thing going on, especially politically, in this country. A trip to Barnes & Noble to escape reality was definitely in order. I met up with two friends there over the weekend and didn’t have any particular books on my list like I usually do. Two books I had been thinking of picking up I already knew I wouldn’t find in-store because when I looked online a few days earlier the website said they weren’t in stock at my location.

On one of the front tables was Kiss of the Basilisk which I’ve heard nothing but great things about. I have it on my tbr, but had intended to read it on my Kindle. However, the sprayed edges got me!

I walked around for a good hour with just the one book and thought that’s all I’d be getting, but at the last minute I ended up adding 4 more books! I have heard good things about the Dream Harbor series – The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, The Cinnamon Bun Book Store, The Christmas Tree Farm, and The Strawberry Patch Pancake House. This series is another one that I planned to read on my Kindle at some point but then I saw that the first three were buy 1 get 1 50% off at the store and then I noticed the foiling on the covers and had to have them.

I probably won’t get to these books anytime soon, but I’m excited for them and this bookstore outing was the perfect escape from reality for 2 hours.
