Book Review: The Front Runner
Earlier this week I finished reading The Front Runner, the third book in the Gold Rush Ranch series by Elsie Silver.

The novel follows Mira Thorne and Stefan Dalca. Both characters have made appearances in the previous books – Mira is a veterinarian who works primarily at Gold Rush Ranch for the Hardings and Dalca owns a rival ranch. In the beginning of this book, we learn that after giving birth one of their horses died and now they are trying to keep the foal alive. They can bottle feed him and take care of him, but he really needs a mother in order to survive. When Stefan calls Mira and asks for help because one of his horses is having a troublesome delivery, Mira rushes over there. Unfortunately, when she gets there the foal has died. Mira helps facilitate a deal between Stefan and Billie Harding. He will let his horse become the mother to Billie’s foal if Mira will go on 3 dates with him. The Hardings and Stefan do not get along, but Mira has never thought Stefan was that bad – plus she finds something about him charming so she secretly agrees. The more time they spend together, the more Mira is certain that everyone including her friends have misjudged Stefan and that he deserves someone in his corner. Can Mira and Stefan work out in the long run? And how will Mira deal with having feelings for someone her friends hate?
I loved this book and loved Mira and Stefan. i’m not sure, but this might be my favorite book of the series so far and that’s saying a lot because I love the Harding brothers – Vaughn and Cole and love Billie and especially the Eaton sister – Violet. But there’s something about Stefan being a really good guy and everyone thinking he’s the worst that has me having a soft spot for him. I loved how Mira and Stefan really saw each other and just got each other. They’re a real favorite for me!
