2 Times Rose had me LOL in Scythe & Sparrow

Brynne Weaver has a way of making her dark romances also hilarious. I think her books were the first time I realized dark romcoms were a thing. I mean, her Ruinous Love trilogy is about romances between serial killers! But, she somehow makes them not just spicy, but funny and that makes them so fun to read. In the last book of the series, Scythe & Sparrow, the fmc, Rose, had me laughing multiple times. I’ve picked out 2 times that had me lol’ing because of the timing of her lines and just how hilariously ridiculous the situations were.

When she’s hiding in the backseat of a bad guy’s car and then tosses the blanket that’s covering her off and bursts from her hiding place holding a blade and says, “Ta-da, motherf*cker.”

And when she joins a crochet club run by old ladies called the “Suture Sisters” and she asks them if they think the yarn she chose will be strong enough and they ask, “That depends, what are you making dear?” and without missing a beat she says, “A sex swing.”

Brynne Weaver’s upcoming book is the first in her new series and comes out next month. I’m excited to read more from her!
