Book Review: Never Been Worse
Last week I read the 3rd book in the Evergreen Park series by Morgan Elizabeth, Never Been Worse. This one was about Harper Abbott and Wes Holden.

When the novel begins we learn that Harper and her ex-boyfriend recently broke up when she caught him cheating on her with his boss’s daughter. She, along with her best friends Jules and Ava, decide to prank him by glittering his lawn when they are caught by the cops and arrested. Not only did Harper’s ex cheat on her, but now he’s making her life even more miserable by threatening to pursue charges and ruin not just her life and career, but her best friends’ lives if she doesn’t agree to give him all her fashion designs to pass off as his girlfriend’s work to her dad at their major fashion line.
The public all think she’s a psycho who is terrorizing her ex and she could really use some good publicity now to save her image if she ever wants a career in fashion beyond designing pageant gowns.
Wes is the lead guitarist for Atlas Oaks and has had a crush on Harper for a while, but she had a boyfriend. When Riggins and Stella from the band share that they’re expecting they need to come up with a distraction for the public to explain why they’re postponing their tour. Wes just so happened to be with Jaime when he got the call that Ava and the girls were arrested so he tags along and learns all about Harper’s situation and he has the perfect solution – they should get married! If they get married, his publicist can fix Harper’s image and shut down the stories her ex has been spreading about her and at the same time their new marriage will be an excuse for the band to put off their tour.
Will this marriage of convenience stay just for show or will it become very real?
I enjoyed this book. Wes was a top notch book boyfriend and was full of green flags. I liked the storyline and the chemistry between Wes and Harper, but I never got super hooked on the book where I was really excited to continue. I did still like the book though and was happy to have read it.
Read this if you want a spicy romcom with the marriage of convenience trope.
