Book Review: All the Right Circles

    August 24, 2020 /

I’ve been trying to read as much as possible this summer before I go back to work, which is in 2 days (cue the sad music). I say it all the time, but my tbr (to be read) list is so long. There are books that I personally want to read and then as a perk to my online presence I get sent books to read as well. One book that has been on my list, literally for months and months, is All the Right Circles, by John Russell. All the Right Circles follows Jack Callahan, a successful lawyer in Raleigh, North Carolina. When the novel begins, he is separated from his wife,…

    Book Review: Little Lovely Things

    October 20, 2019 /

I just finished the novel Little Lovely Things and am here today to review it for you guys. Little Lovely Things is told from a few different points of view. When the novel begins, Claire, a medical resident is married with two young daughters trying to juggle life. Her husband, Glen, is a teacher and on the morning that this whole story kicks off he is off to work and Claire is taking the kids to drop them off at daycare on her way to work. Not feeling well, Claire does what most working mothers do – she is determined to power through it because there is no time to be sick. While…

Book Review: How to Fall in Love – A Novel

    July 26, 2019 /

Back in February I previewed a new novel, How to Fall in Love.  It sounded great – I even said so in my post. Cupid is in danger of losing his job and he’s got one chance to prove to his father, Jove, that he is still needed to serve humans as the great matchmaker. He picks Evan, an anthologist, and Eve, a former ballerina turned maple syrup farmer. He can offer very little assistance in this love match and hopes that the two will fall in love and save his job. As I mentioned, it sounds like such a fun read right? Um, no. Okay, this was a quick read and…

Book Preview: How to Fall in Love – A Novel

    February 6, 2019 /

Valentine’s Day is a week and a day away and I have the perfect book for you to read. How to Fall in Love – A Novel was sent to me and unfortunately, I haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet. I’m currently buried under a pile of books. But, this one is one I wish I was able to have read by now because it sounds so good especially for the holiday of love. So why am I sharing this today instead of doing a marathon reading session this weekend and sharing it next week? I wanted to share it now because it is being released tomorrow! So,…

    Book Review: The Innocents

    August 4, 2018 /

Today I’m reviewing a book I wasn’t sure how much I’d like and I ended up loving. The Innocents by C.A. Asbrey contains so many elements that I secretly and not so secretly love. The Innocents is the first in a mystery series and it has 3 main characters. Abigail or Abi is a woman in her mid 20s who is a Pinkerton detective, Nat & Jake who are cousins and outlaws in the west. Abigail is undercover trying to track down and apprehend the infamous gang, The Innocents, before they rob any more railroads. They’re called “The Innocents” because they never hurt any innocent people, they rob from the rich i.e.…

2 Fights by @nikkicastleromance is the second book 2 Fights by @nikkicastleromance is the second book in the Fight Game series and follows Jax and Hailey. We met both characters in 5 Rounds. Jax is best friends with both Remy and Tristan and Hailey is Remy’s younger sister. Glimpses of Hailey’s toxic relationship was seen in the first book and in 2 Fights she begins to realize how harmful her boyfriend has been to her mental health and self esteem. Jax helps her through it all and reminds her of her amazing she is. Jax has looked out for Hailey since she was a kid but is now seeing her in a different light and realizing how beautiful and grown up she is. Hailey had a crush on Jax when she was a kid but now is there something there? They have always had chemistry, but now with all the time they’re spending together they can’t nor do they want to be apart. 💕📚

The love between Jax and Hailey is really sweet. We see their relationship go from a loving friendship to a soulmate type of love. There is lots of good spice, but the real story is about Hailey’s healing from her past and how Jax helps her along the way👫. I loved the book! My obsession with them is a little less than with Remy and Tristan, but still loved the book.

This is great for lovers of sports romance, friends to lovers, and sister’s best friend/best friend’s sister tropes. My full review is on the blog ✨

Things We Hide from the Light by @scorelucy picks Things We Hide from the Light by @scorelucy picks up right after Things We Never Got Over and focuses on Nash and Lina. Nash, our lovable police chief, is silently dealing with ptsd from almost dying and his shooter still on the run. Lina , our fiesty insurance investigator, is adjusting to temporarily living in the small town of Knockemout and surprisingly liking it. There was an instant attraction between the two and for some reason Nash can only feel calm and not anxious when she’s with him and Nash is the first person Lina has ever remotely considered a relationship with. 📖

Can Nash be the one to change her mind about relationships? Can Lina help him through his PTSD and be happy again? Will Nash be okay when he finds out that Lina is in town because she’s coincidentally after the same guy who tried to kill him? 👀 💖

I loved this book! Nash and Lina were such great characters and I was happy to be back in Knockemout with beloved characters especially Knox, Naomi, and Way of course! 💕📚

Read this if you’re in the mood for a spicy contemporary romance with brother’s best friend and forced proximity vibes. Now I can’t wait for Lucian and Sloane’s book! My full review is on the blog! 📚✨

I loved Always a Princess by @clyverose a few year I loved Always a Princess by @clyverose a few years ago so when she sent me her follow up in the series, The King’s Mistress, I was so excited! The novel takes place a few years after Always a Princess and follows Lydia, Wil’s younger sister who is now at marrying age, and Valkin, Syeira’s brother who is a Romany king. 👑

When Lydia finds out that her father has betrothed her to an old and mean Earl, she runs away to try to get to France to find safety in her eldest brother, Roger. But on the way she happens upon the Romany camp where Valkin, Syeira, and Wil live. Lydia claims she is the mistress of Valkin for protection. Wil and Syeira are away and Valkin does not recognize her after so many years. Unwilling to reveal her true identity in order to protect Valkin’s people, Lydia is comforted by the feeling of community and family (and the rekindling of her childhood crush on Valkin) until she is well enough to head to France. Valkin knows she should go for the safety of his people but he also doesn’t want to let her go. 💕

The slow burn, tension, and angst in this book was so good! I loved Lydia and Valkin and getting to see beloved couple Wil and Syeira and their growing family again. My full review is on the blog ✨📖
