    Spider-Man: Homecoming

It’s been a while since I’ve written a movie review so I thought I’d share a few quick thoughts on the latest Marvel movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming. I saw the movie last week in IMAX 3D and the movie theater even gave us little Spider-Man desk figures. A nice touch, but I really have no use for it! I have to preface this by saying that I love Marvel movies and I’m not too hard to please when it comes to them. With that being said, I thought this movie was fantastic! It had action, humor, and a likeable cast. I loved that the beginning of the movie tied in with Spider-Man’s…

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Have you see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 yet? It just came out a few days ago but I feel like if you’re a fan, you’ll have seen it already. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t worry I won’t give any spoilers! It’s unclear how much time has passed since the end of the first movie, but we do know that the Guardians get hired for jobs. The movie opens with them trying to protect a planet or group’s (I’m not really sure) special batteries from monsters that are trying to steal them. From there they, of course, find themselves getting into trouble and having to get themselves out…

The Light Between Oceans – Book vs. Movie

The Light Between Oceans came out in the movie theaters in the fall and the book was published in 2012, but I just got around to reading the novel and watching the movie. I wanted to read the book before seeing the movie and didn’t have time back in the fall. I had heard that the movie was really sad so that made me hesitant to read the book because I wasn’t really in the mood to read a sad story. But I decided to go ahead and read it. Let’s start with a brief synopsis. Tom Sherbourne is a World War I veteran who has recently taken on a…

    Beauty & the Beast

Have you seen Beauty & the Beast yet? I know it just came out this past weekend, but I know a bunch of people who already saw it – myself included! I just couldn’t wait so I had to go after work on Friday. If you follow me on Instagram then you might already know that I absolutely loved the movie. I had high expectations for this movie and I am happy to report that not only did the movie meet my expectations but exceeded them. I loved that the movie had the basis of the original animated movie, but fleshed out the characters and background stories more. I really enjoyed the fact…

    Rogue One

Have you seen Rogue One yet? I saw it over the weekend and I was really excited for it leading up to the day. Then, I saw mixed reviews on my Facebook newsfeed. Some people seemed to love it and others thought it was just okay. I started to get worried that I wouldn’t like it so I tried to tell myself to keep my expectations low. What did I think?…..I absolutely loved it! It had me interested for the entire movie. No wondering how much time was left to the movie. No trying to tell myself that it has to get better. It was awesome! If you don’t know what…

Review: Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them

It’s always hard to go back to work or school after a long weekend or holiday break so here’s hoping today goes by smoothly and quickly! Thanksgiving went by in a flash and as you all know the second Thanksgiving is over it is Christmas decorating and shopping at full steam ahead. I got my first dose of Christmas cheer this past weekend. Aside from decorating my house and Christmas tree, I met up with my friend to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and walked around the Christmas market in Bethlehem, PA. Some pictures and a short video on that in a few days! Today, however, I am…

    Movie Review: Ghostbusters

Last Friday, I went to see the new Ghostbusters movie starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. I didn’t originally plan on going to the movies that day. I was supposed to go to see hot air balloons go up around sunrise for their practice runs for the weekend’s NJ Hot Air Balloon Festival, but the weather put a damper on that (pun intended). So my friend and I decided to go to lunch and see Ghostbusters instead. A solid backup plan! I was looking forward to watching this movie because the trailer looked really funny and I usually love whatever Melissa McCarthy is in. I knew there was…

    The Jungle Book

How is everyone’s weekend going? I’ve been pretty busy and tired, but it’s been productive! I went to see The Jungle Book yesterday and I really wanted to share my thoughts on the movie. First off, I haven’t seen the animated Disney movie since I was a little kid and I think I only saw it once (since it wasn’t the typical fairy tale/princess Disney movie that I would watch over and over again) so I really didn’t remember much about the storyline. Basically, all I remembered was that it’s about a boy named Mowgli who grows up in the jungle, he has a friend who’s a bear, and I remembered some…

    “Atonement” Book vs. Movie

Ian McEwan’s 2001 novel, Atonement, tells the story of thirteen year old Briony Tallis – a young British girl who with one false accusation completely dismantles lives and the relationship between her older sister Cecilia and the love of her life, Robbie. I’ll try my best to not give any spoilers if you haven’t read or watched the movie. This post will mostly focus on comparing the book and movie. I won’t lie, the first time I heard of the novel was when the movie came out in 2007, which I didn’t see. I only recently read the novel because I was teaching the novel in my AP Literature class. I read…

    “Pan” Life Quotes

The movie Pan came out last year and a few weeks ago I finally saw it. The movie tells the story of young orphaned Peter and how he arrived in Neverland. The movie was fun to watch and I couldn’t help but notice that there were quite a few lines that could serve well as life quotes. Before I get into those, let me give a little more background on the movie and my thoughts. I love stories and movies that tell a new tale or give a new spin on an old/well loved story. Pan gives an interesting backstory to Peter and includes some other characters well known in the Peter…
