#TakeBackWhatsYours Campaign

Have you heard about the Take Back What’s Yours Campaign? It’s been around for a little while now and I’ve personally known about it for a few weeks but have been seriously dragging my feet with putting together my post for it.

I first heard about it through the lovely Karen of Confetti and Curves and was mentioned in a post about it today by the awesome Nessa from That Chic Fashion Blog. The campaign was originally started by Chloe from www.chloesconcept.blogspot.co.uk as a way to really reflect and think about what you want to focus on taking back in your life this year i.e. your confidence.

It’s pretty simple to get involved in this positive and empowering campaign.

1) Write a blog post talking about this campaign, the message it contains and why you are taking part

2) Take Back What’s Yours – What New Year Resolution you are going to set yourself?

3) Tag 10 bloggers to take part

4) Let Chloe know if you’re taking part! ( here)

If you can – include a photo of yourself with a handmade poster (doesn’t have to be artistic!) with the words:

“TAKE BACK WHAT’S YOURS –
MAKE YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTION TO TAKE BACK WHAT BELONGS TO YOU. #TakeBackWhatsYours
In 2015, I’m taking back: *i.e., “my confidence”

Now, I know it’s almost the end of January so I don’t really consider this a resolution for me, but it’s never too late to “take back what’s yours” right? As I mentioned earlier in the post, I have been really dragging my feet with putting together this post. It’s a lot harder to think about what you want to take back charge of in your life and even harder to put it into words. After much thought and consideration, I decided on…

Self-validation. Meaning, I want to spend this year really focused on whether I’m happy with whatever in my life and not looking for approval from others. I’ve gotten a lot better as I’ve gotten older in terms of not caring so much what other people think. I used to get really upset when I was younger if people didn’t like me. I’m a lot more relaxed about it these days, but I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t get to me every once in a while. There’s still that underlying need every once in a while to get people’s approval and just to be liked by everyone! That whole frustration of “But why? I don’t understand!” if I sense someone has something against me or if I hear that people are talking about me (in a negative way). I need to remember that it’s my life and no one else’s and what really matters is what I think of me and what I’m doing, not what other people think of me and what I’m doing.

So that’s my goal for 2015 and something I plan to be more mindful of. I’m not going to tag 10 bloggers, but 2 bloggers that I think would really appreciate this campaign are Camila from The Geek Chick Blog and Nad from Hugs x Heart so I will tag the two of them as well as any of you that want to take part in this fantastic campaign!
