Moving house is exciting, particularly if you are moving somewhere new. You could be moving for work, as you are getting a bigger house, or just because you fancy a change. No matter the reason, it’s important that you do your research before going, getting as much in order as possible. This can make the move a lot easier and reduce your stress when the time comes. If you are moving to a completely new area we have put together some top tips for you to consider…
Research the local amenities ahead of time
Before moving to an area it’s important you check out all of the main amenities. You will want to know what there is to do there – for example, where the local gym or shopping mall is. You will also want to know where things such as the local MM dentistry, doctors’ surgery and hospital or vet is should any of your family members or pets need it. Find out how far it will be for you to get to them and the reviews they have online to see how good they are.
Check out the local transport links
Another factor you are going to want to consider before moving somewhere new is how good the local transportion links are. Find out if they have a local bus or a train service and how regularly they run. If you are planning on having a car and driving to work or to take your kids to school, you will need to find out how long this will take and what the parking situation is like. It could be worth doing a trial run before your first day at work or school to make sure you know the journey and how much time to leave in the morning for the real thing.
Research the area
A realtor will tend to sell you an area as amazing but the only way to get a real-life view of a place is to ask people that live there already. You could do a Google search to see the news stories about the area. You could also ask on social media about the area and search up hashtags for the place you will be living. This will give you a much more realistic insight into what the area is like to live in.
These are just a few top tips that can help make the move that bit easier. House moving is fun but can be a stress and you want to make sure that you are as prepared as possible. Try to get your things organized and packed as strategically as possible and do a few visits to the area to scope it out before you go – this way you will feel the area is a little more familiar when the time comes to move there.
