Book Review: Summer Secrets of the Soho Club

Summer Secrets of the Soho Club is the third installment of the regency romance anthology series. I have enjoyed the first two – Secrets of the Soho Club and Christmas Secrets of the Soho Club so when Clyve Rose, one of the authors included in the anthology, asked if I’d like a copy of the latest installment I immediately said yes!

Side note: I know Downton Abby is not the regency era, but I just had to wear this tee from Inkwell Threads for this photo! Justice for Sybil!

I love this steamy regency romance series. If you’re unfamiliar with the anthology series it is made up of novellas that all feature the Soho Club. The Soho Club is a highly exclusive club in London where members are able to fulfill their desires or do as they wish without judgement and everything that happens at the Soho Club stays at the Soho Club.

Here are my mini reviews of the 7 novellas in Summer Secrets of the Soho Club:

  • The Betrothal of a Baron – This is such a sweet romance. So sweet in fact that the instalove in it didn’t bother me at all.
  • A Summer Reunion – I loved this one. It made my heart ache, but of course it ends happily. I do wish there was an epilogue though!
  • A Summer of Second Chances – This is a sweet sapphic romance with a class gap. The storyline is unique and deals with teeth/dentures (there’s a page for the trigger warnings) which was a little weird and the opposite of sexy, but somehow all works to create a romance.
  • Hot August Night – I loved this one. The characters and storyline had me hooked the entire time. The ending was a little abrupt, which I know is common with novellas but I would’ve loved just a bit more.
  • A Delicate Investigation – The beginning was a little confusing, but then I got in to it and really enjoyed the storyline and characters. I love revisiting characters from the previous Clyve Rose novellas.
  • The Promise – I loved this one and all of the angst in it – and there is a lot of angst! There is the miscommunication trope, which I think did get dragged out a bit too long in this one and wish more time could’ve been spent on the happy ending.
  • Summer Strawberries – I loved this one. It was so sweet and spicy. It was the perfect last novella in the book because it was just so happy and there was no drama!

If you like steamy/spicy regency romances then check out any of the Soho Club anthologies!
