Book Review: Princess and the Player
Back in the fall I read Beauty & the Baller by Ilsa Madden-Mills and really enjoyed it. In that novel, the mmc has a best friend who makes a few appearances, Tuck. Princess and the Player follows Tuck and Francesca.

Princess and the Player, like Beauty and the Baller, starts off with a one-night stand. On what was supposed to be her wedding day, Francesca, an artist, gets a guest pass to an exclusive sex club for their masquerade party. So she goes wearing her wedding dress and a mask. Ronan, a star football player, is taken to the club by his two friends and teammates for his birthday. There he meets Francesca and they spend the night at the club together. Both are enamored with each other, but are too afraid to ask for the other’s identity or ask to see the other again.
Fast forward a few weeks and the two run into each other at a restaurant and butt heads. But when they get up close to each other, they both realize who the other is (but don’t say anything). They also learn they live in the same apartment building, with Tuck living in the penthouse of course. Tuck is interested in Francesca but she seems to not want to have anything to do with him. Francesca is interested in Tuck, but she’s heard he’s a player. Living in the same building would be complicated enough given the circumstances, but then Francesca learns she’s pregnant with Tuck’s baby!
I’m not a huge fan of the accidental pregnancy trope, but I think it was done really well here. I really liked Francesca and Tuck and all their friends. The tension was really good that led to them finally giving in to their feelings for each other. The only thing I would change is having Tuck find out the truth a little earlier in the book, because I think that would’ve been really interesting.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and loved Francesca, Tuck, and their story!
Read this if you want a spicy sports romcom with the accidental pregnancy trope.
