January 2023 Book Favs
January was a fantastic reading month. I read so many amazing books. It’s hard to believe that I read Kulti this month cause now it seems like so long ago!

So out of all these books which ones were my absolute favorites? I narrowed it down to 10.

- Kulti – This was my second Mariana Zapata book and I absolutely loved it just as much as The Wall of Winnipeg and Me. This was the most perfect slow burn. Sal and Kulti have my heart.
- Caraval – The first book in the Caraval series. I’ve been wanting to read this series for a long time and I’m glad I finally did. The world of Caraval is pure magic!
- Wretched – This was such a satisfying dark romance and fractured fairy tale. I loved that the fmc was the “bad guy”.
- Mr. Wrong Number – My first Lynn Painter book and it won’t be my last (in fact I’m in the middle of one of her YA books now). This was so good! The storyline was great. I loved all the tropes (brother’s best friend, enemies to lovers). It was funny, it was steamy, it was all the things!
- Book Lovers – Another winner by Emily Henry. The story was so good. I laughed, I cried.
- Legendary – Book two in the Caraval series and I loved this one even more than the first. I’m a big Tella fan. Also, I love Julian and Dante so much.
- Birthday Girl – My first Penelope Douglas book and it did not disappoint. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the boyfriend’s dad trope but this was done so well. The story was so good and I loved Pike and Jordan together so much.
- The Atlas Six – I loved this dark academia book. I’ve also been wanting to read this series for a while and I’m glad I finally started. It’s not the easiest read, honestly, but it was so good and the ending blew my mind.
- A Million Kisses in Your Lifetime – My first Monica Murphy book and it didn’t disappoint. It was the perfect quick, spicy prep school romance.
- Six Crimson Cranes – I read the first book in the latest duology by Elizabeth Lim and it was pure magic. I loved Shiori and the story was so good. I can’t wait to see what happens in the second book.
I wanted to participate in a book bracket this year. It was hard to decide which would be my top favorite for the month, but I ultimately chose Kulti. It just had all the things I loved about my other favorites and more. Sports romance, grumpy sunshine, slow burn, it made me laugh, it made me emotional. It was just everything!

So many good books this month! Here’s hoping for another good one!

I also read Daisy Jones & The Six this month! I love the idea of the book bracket too.

What’d you think of the book?! And I think the book bracket is so fun. I can’t wait to see what my top book ends up being at the end of the year!

I liked it! I wasn’t blown away, but I think maybe my expectations were a little too high since people have been praising it up and down. I’m looking forward to seeing the Amazon adaptation in March!
