Book Review: Promposal

Promposal by R.H. Bird was released earlier this week and I was sent a copy. This is lighthearted teen romcom and was a fast read.

The novel takes place in 1990 and follows Luca Esposito. When in detention one morning, he learns that his ex-girlfriend whom he hasn’t talked to in months, is selling her prom tickets. Luca knows how much Piper has been wanting to go to prom and he has a feeling she is selling her tickets because she doesn’t have a date. Luca makes it his mission to get her to go to prom with him, but he only has a few hours before she sells them and prom is tonight.

I thought this book was cute and I liked it for the most part because it was a fun, lighthearted read with a teenage mmc who wants a second chance with his ex. There were some details that made me not like Luca. I liked him for most of the book, but then he would do something or say something in his head that I don’t think served him well as a character and made him not as likable. For example, he would talk about how he realized how much he missed Piper and wanted to get back together with her, but then the next page would be his internal monologue talking about how hot some other girl is etc.

Overall, I thought it was a cute read and interesting to read a high school romcom from a guy’s POV.

Also! If you are in the Las Vegas area, there is a contest going on to celebrate the release of Promposal. Click here for info. Submit your most creative promposal idea. The most creative idea will win a free tuxedo rental for prom!
