Book Review: A Warrior at Heart
This week I read the second book in the Raek Riders series by Melanie K. Moschella, A Warrior at Heart. I enjoyed the book and seeing what happened next for Meera and Shael after the ending of book 1.

I don’t want to spoil anything in the series, so I’ll keep this review brief. The novel picks up where book 1, Iron Bound Flames, ended. Meera, Shael, and Shael’s raek Cerun, are in Levisade where the Knell (non-humans who have powers) and raeks live. Shael and Meera have been healed from their injuries and they begin a friendship. Though they are attracted to one another and have formed a relationship and trust each other, something is holding Shael back so the tension is good. Although humans are not thought highly of in Levisade, Meera is determined to stay since she cannot go home after the way she left in the first book. But Shael thinks it may be difficult for Meera to stay where she may not be treated that well as a human and he also doesn’t know if it’s a good idea for them to be in such close proximity.
I enjoyed this book and being reunited with the characters. It was nice to get to know Shael since he was so injured in the first book and unconscious for a majority of the book. We also get his POV in some chapters and I always love dual POV. I loved watching Meera and Shael get closer to one another and seeing how their feelings developed for one another. The ending was really interesting and sets up for an exciting book 3.
