Book Review: The Endless War
The Endless War by Danielle L. Jensen is the 4th book in The Bridge Kingdom series and the second book that follows Keris and Zarrah. I read it this week and absolutely loved this epic story.

So when I picked this up, I needed to refresh my memory of where the previous book (The Inadequate Heir) left off because I read it over a year ago. There was just one little problem – my blog post about the book said it had a cliffhanger (I could not remember what the cliffhanger was) and I didn’t write down what it was in my blog post because spoilers. I also don’t have the book on hand because it’s in storage as I’m still in the process of moving! So I started The Endless War and hoped I’d remember what happened.
I didn’t remember what the cliffhanger was until a few chapters in, but I did eventually figure it out. The book picks up shortly after the ending of book 2 and Zarrah and Keris have been separated. Zarrah is being punished by her aunt, the Empress of Valcotta , and sent to Devil’s Island – a remote island filled with criminals. Keris is torn between having to lead his kingdom, Maridrina, as the new King and needing to go try to rescue Zarrah from that horrible island. And he hopes he can convince his sister Lara and her husband, the King of Ithicana (from the original two Bridge Kingdom books!) to help him.
What follows is an epic journey of love, friendship, sacrifice, adventure, and loss to end the endless war and reunite Keris and Zarrah.
I loved this book and everything Keris and Zarrah go through to bring peace to their people and try to be together. They love each other so much, but also love their people. You can feel the anguish they go through, willingly sacrificing their own happiness to put others needs before theirs. I think it’s also so refreshing to see the fmc be the warrior and the mmc be the bookworm. It’s so funny to me that Keris, while having basic combat skills, never trained in depth in fighting because it was his form of rebellion against his father. But he’s still willing to do whatever it takes and put his body on the line to protect Zarrah. I just love them!
I’m looking forward to reading the last 2 books in the series when they come out. They’re going to be about Aren’s sister, Ahnna!
Side note: The books are being rereleased with new covers so the paperback of The Endless War doesn’t come out until January, but I believe you can read it on Kindle immediately.
