Book Review: Temple of Swoon
Back in the fall I read and loved Raiders of the Lost Heart by Jo Segura. I’ve been waiting for the second book, Temple of Swoon, ever since! It came out in January and I just finished reading it earlier this week.

The novel follows Dr. Miriam Jacobs or Miri and Rafael Monfils or Rafa. Miri is the protegé of Corrie Mejia, who was the fmc of Raiders of the Lost Heart, and Rafa is a journalist. When Miri is unexpectedly named lead of a new expedition in the Amazon to search for the Lost City of the Moon when Corrie and her archaeologist boyfriend, Ford, are unable to get to Brazil, she is given the opportunity to prove herself as a young archaeologist. Rafa is the journalist tasked with following the crew and reporting their expedition and findings. What she doesn’t know is that the hot journalist who she met and hit it off with before they both realized the other’s identity is actually there to make sure she doesn’t find the Lost City of the Moon.
Will Miri find out Rafa’s true intentions? Rafa likes Miri and doesn’t want her to fail, but his father demands that he sabotage the expedition. What will he do?
I really enjoyed the book and loved Miri and Rafa. Miri was so quirky and unapologetically herself. She begins being unsure of herself and her abilities as a leader, but she really comes into her own and gains confidence as the story goes on. And Rafa was a pretty supportive mmc, even when he was trying to ruin her plans!
I thought there’d be a little more adventure so that’s my only critique, but it was a fun read for sure.
