Book Review: Funny Feelings
I’ve had Tarah Dewitt’s novel, Funny Feelings, on my tbr for a long time, but I kept putting it off to a later date and then her books were getting republished and I decided to wait longer etc. etc. I say all this to say that I wish I read it sooner because I absolutely loved it and didn’t want to put it down this past week at all.

The novel follows Farley Jones aka Fee and Meyer Harrigan. Fee is an up and coming stand-up comic/comedian and Meyer is an established comedian who used to do stand-up and now is a comedy writer and Fee’s manager. The novel switches back and forth from present day and the past when Fee and Meyer first met 3 years ago and events leading up to present day highlighting their growing friendship to the point where they are practically family.
The two have become best friends over the years and both harbor secret feelings for the other, but both think it’s one sided and never want to jeopardize their relationship. They especially don’t want to jeopardize their friendship because Fee is very close with and important to Meyer’s young daughter, Hazel. But when two female comedy icons approach Fee to join them on a comedy tour and they think a fake relationship between Fee and Meyer would be great for publicity. The two go through with it, but will they be able to keep their relationship just for the cameras when they both secretly have feelings for the other?
I loved this book so much. I had a feeling I would love it, but I did not expect for it to effect me as much as it did. I can only compare it to the feeling I got with You, With a View last year in the sense that it just resonated with me so much and my love for it just feels embedded in me. It’s just one of those books that you know will be with you forever. I loved the friendship between Fee and Meyer and how they became family. And Hazel was so adorable. The relationship they both had with Hazel just makes my heart happy. Hazel was born deaf and the fact that Fee knew ASL already was just fate.
This book was a surprise hit for me and I can’t wait to read more by Tarah Dewitt!
