Book Review: Bridesmaid by Chance

Meghan Quinn books never fail to make me laugh or to bring on the hot spice and her latest book in the Bridesmaid for Hire series, Bridesmaid by Chance, was no exception. It came out last month and I read it this week.

The novel follows the older Hopper brother, Hudson, and Jude’s younger sister and assistant to Hudson, Sloane. Hudson, Hardy, and their younger sister Haisley (Jude’s wife) have separated from their father’s business and gone off on their own after they disagreed with his business practices back in book 1. With a lot to prove to the world, their business partners the Cane brothers, and to their father, Hudson really needs to close a prospective business deal in London. When his prospective new partner, Archie, and Archie’s fiancée Sheridan seek help from Maggie and Everly’s Bridesmaid for Hire business to replace one of their injured bridesmaids, Hudson offers up Sloane in a bid to accommodate and impress Archie. Not only has he volunteered his assistant to take part in a regency themed wedding in London, but in order to close the deal he needs to win over Sheridan’s father who is a stakeholder in Archie’s company and the way to do that is to spend time with him at the Mayfair Club. The only problem is that you have to be married to become a member of the Mayfair Club.

Naturally, Hudson and Sloane enter a marriage of convenience! She needs money to to help her and her twin sister out of a living situation and Hudson needs a wife to close his business deal. It’s a win win. As long as they don’t let Jude know. And their secret crushes on each other don’t get exposed.

This was a really fun book and I loved Hudson and Sloane. The spice was spicin’ especially hot in this one which made it even more fun. I love tension in a book, but this one went back and forth a little too much for me and I think I would’ve loved it more if there wasn’t so much hot and cold between them. Overall, I did really like the book and characters!

Read this if you want a spicy romcom with the marriage of convenience and age gap romance tropes.
