Book Review: King of Envy
Ana Huang recently came out with her latest book in the Kings of Sin series, King of Envy. This one follows the mysterious Vuk Markovic, whom we’ve briefly met in the previous books. All we knew about him in the previous books is that his nickname is “The Serb”, he has a scar diagonally down his face, and he almost never speaks. The fmc of the novel is Ayana Kidane, a model who made an appearance previously in the series and is Sloane’s client.

Ayana Kidane is a famous model, but if you thought her life was all glamorous and she was extremely wealthy from her career, you’d be wrong. Secretly, Ayana – like many models, is the victim of a bad contract and being taken advantage of by her modeling agency. She can’t break her contract without owing them a ton of money – money she doesn’t have. So when her good friend, Jordan, approached her a couple years ago about a marriage of convenience, she accepted. He would give her enough money to break her contract and he, who has no interest in ever marrying, would get his inheritance from his grandmother who has a marriage stipulation in her will. For years, the two have been completely content with their arrangement. That is until Ayana realizes that Vuk, Jordan’s best man, isn’t standoffish with her because he hates her, but because he has wanted her for years. And as Ayana gets to know Vuk more as the wedding approaches, she learns the mysterious man has so much more to him and that she also wants him. What can they do when she’s already made a promise to Jordan to marry him? And to make matters more complicated, enemies from Vuk’s past have reignited their vendetta against him and no one in his life is safe.
I really liked this book and loved Vuk and Ayana. The storyline was good and I loved Ana Huang’s return to a morally grey mmc. However, despite loving both Vuk and Ayana and really liking them together, I just never felt super invested in them. I liked them, but wasn’t obsessed with them as a couple if that makes sense. But, I still did really enjoy the book.
Read this if you want a spicy romance with a morally grey mmc and the forbidden romance trope.
