5 Telltale Signs It’s Time to Buy a New Car

Nothing lasts forever. Even if your current car was the light of your life once upon a time, there’ll come a time when it’s time to sell up and invest in a new vehicle. Alas, figuring out when that moment should be is often more challenging than most people think. Since many car owners form an emotional attachment to their four-wheeled friend, many end up holding on to the keys for longer than they should.

As such, it’s usually a good idea to make the decision with your head, not your heart. In this post, we’ll run through a few telltale signs that it’s time to get a new vehicle.

It’s No Longer Reliable

Cars exist to make our lives easier, not more challenging. If your current vehicle is breaking down with increased frequency, then you’ll have to ask yourself whether it’s really giving you all the benefits that car ownership should bring. It’s not just about convenience, but about safety. A car that’s having repeated issues won’t be as safe as a reliable vehicle that you can trust will take you from point A to point B without issues!

It’s Showing Signs of Wear and Tear

No one wants to feel like they’re driving around in a vehicle that’s falling apart. Some cars just aren’t as durable as we’d like them to be, and will begin to show signs of degradation earlier than other brands. If the paint is beginning to fade and there are more dents than you’re comfortable with, then look at upgrading. You can get a reliable car without breaking the bank by buying a Ford, Volvo, or Seat approved used vehicle, rather than buying new. Buying through a brand’s approved used program is recommended because they typically offer all the advantages of buying used — more affordable, wide range of models — without the downsides.

You Hate Your Commute (Even More Than Normal)

OK, not many people enjoy the commute, but there’s no doubt that driving to and from work in a vehicle you love is much more fun than doing it in a car that you don’t enjoy driving. If you’re finding that your commute is beginning to grind your gears, then take a look at getting a new vehicle — you’ll have a much better time on your commute if you have a modern infotainment system that provides a convenient way to listen to your favorite podcasts and driving playlists!

The Costs Are Adding Up

Older cars come with higher insurance premiums, costly repairs, and generally have poorer fuel efficiency than more modern vehicles. If your car-related expenses are seriously beginning to stack up, then it’ll be best to invest in a newer car model.

It No Longer Serves Your Needs

Finally, it might not be the car that’s the issue, just that your circumstances and needs have changed. The car you bought when you were a single, young professional probably won’t be quite as suitable when you’re a married, suburban homeowner with a child on the way!
