Book Review: Highest Bidder
Last week I read the fifth book in the Salacious Players’ Club series by Sara Cate, Highest Bidder. Overall, I liked this book, but had conflicting feelings about how much I liked it. Read on to find out why!

The novel follows Daisy Bennett and Ronan Kade. Ronan has made appearances in the previous books. He’s a silent partner in Salacious and is often at the club. He’s friends with the others and best friends with Eden. He’s in his late 50s and he’s also extremely wealthy. Daisy is in her early 20s and a waitress at Salacious. But she didn’t end up at Salacious on a whim. When her mother passed away she learned that there was a bank account in Daisy’s name with a million dollars on it. The only other thing she knows is that the money came from Ronan Kade, but she has no idea who he is, how he knew her mom, and why he would give her that much money. After some research she learns he frequents SPC so she moves across the country and gets a job there.
When Daisy loses a bet and has to participate in the club’s auction night, Ronan bids on her and wins. He doesn’t intend to actually take her up on the bid, but didn’t want her to end up with a guy she didn’t know. But when Ronan learns that she’s been sleeping in her van, he takes her in and the two become inseparable. Will their age gap be an issue once they fall for each other? Will Ronan still want to be with Daisy when he learns she’s the daughter of a woman he once loved?
So I liked the storyline for the most part and I really liked Ronan and Daisy as characters. I usually don’t mind age gap romances, but it being a 30+ year age gap was a little weird for me to picture. And then the whole thing about Daisy being the daughter of an ex-lover of Ronan’s was icky to me too. But I kept reading because like I said I really liked the characters. I liked how Ronan treated Daisy and how Daisy made Ronan love again. So I do have conflicting feelings about how much I like the book.
It’s not my favorite of the series, but overall I did like the book.
