Book Review: Ick Factor
It took me a long time, but I finally finished the Season of Revenge series by Morgan Elizabeth. I just took my time reading the books about each friend in this group. I think I read the first book, Tis the Season for Revenge, 2 or 3 years ago! I read the 4th and final book, Ick Factor, last week and really enjoyed it.

The novel follows Katrina “Kat” Delgado and Theodore “Theo” Carter. Theo is the Vice President of Catalyst Records, a record company that his late father and his best friend co-founded together. When his dad passed away when Theo was a teenager, his dad’s best friend and business partner, Jeff, and his wife take him and his little sister in. Theo works his way up in the company and always assumed one day he would be running things, but when Jeff announces to the board that he will be retiring soon and that the board will have to vote between Theo and his rival, Warren.
Shocked that he’s being pit against Warren for the company his father helped start, Theo is told by Jeff that he’s worried that he is too consumed by work and needs a healthier work life balance. Scrambling to defend himself against his father figure who thinks he has no life outside of the office and that’s why he’s not automatically backing him to become President of the company, Theo says he’s actually secretly engaged. When Theo starts to try to figure out who can be his fake fiancée, his assistant who he constantly says he would crumble without, Katrina, offers to play the role for him because she knows him better than anyone. Plus, then they can use their work relationship as the reason for keeping their engagement secret! Will they be able to pull it off? Will their fake relationship start to become real?
I really enjoyed this book and loved Theo! I liked Kat too, but Theo was just such a good book boyfriend. This was a fun romcom and I liked the chemistry between Theo and Kat. Jeff annoyed me though because no matter how bad Warren was, Jeff always made an excuse for him or was super naive about how bad of a person Warren was. It really irritated me how he kept saying Theo was overreacting so that was the one thing that I really didn’t like in the book.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and it had a great wrap-up for the series.
Read this if you want a spicy romcom with the fake dating and workplace romance tropes.
