Book Review: Forget Me Not

Forget Me Not by Karissa Kinword has been on my tbr for probably a year. I’d seen multiple people on social media rave about it and I loved her spicy Christmas romcom, Christmas in Coconut Creek, so I knew I had to read it. Although Forget Me Not is different to Christmas in Coconut Creek since it’s a sci-fi romance, I still enjoyed it.

This sci-fi romance is a soulmate romance. It takes places in the future, where people travel to different moons and I assume, planets, as well. It follows Eliza and Silas. Eliza and her boyfriend, Logan, have been traveling around to different moons, planets (I think?) for a while now and are finally on a transport (think a giant space ship described almost like a cruise ship with shopping, amenities, a big food court, etc.) to head home. Eliza is already missing their travels and not looking forward to returning home and to city life. While eating at the food court with Logan one day, new guests on the transport arrive who were just picked up. In walks a man that Eliza instantly recognizes. He is a man she has had dreams of every night for most of her life and as they’ve gotten older the dreams have gotten more intimate and spicy, but she always thought this guy was just her imagination. But, he is real and his name is Silas.

Eliza and Silas have been in love in their minds for years, but never knew the other really existed. Now they are on a ship heading back to Otera and have to pretend they don’t know each other because Eliza is there with her boyfriend. Silas also has secrets that could put Eliza in danger. Can these soulmates find their happily ever after?

I love this soulmate story and the deep, fated loved between Eliza and Silas is so beautiful. While I did really like Eliza and Silas, I felt like some of her choices really just made things more difficult for them. It’s understandably difficult to find the person you are so in love with and needing to figure out how to end things with your long-term partner who hasn’t done anything wrong, but I felt like Eliza made some choices that didn’t do her any favors in the situation!

I did really like the book, but honestly it did give me anxiety because of the whole situation! And I had heard that some people were not happy with the ending because it seemingly ends in an open-ended way even though the author has said that she thought the ending was pretty clear lol. I will say that if I had read this ending without the author’s bonus chapters that came out later with a clearer ending, I would’ve been upset too! The bonus chapters really saved the ending for me so make sure you read those if you read this book!

Read this book if you want a spicy sci-fi romance with the soulmate trope.
