Book Review: Slaying the Shifter Prince

I’m a big fan of Clare Sager’s Shadows of Tenebris Court seres (and Beneath Black Sails series which comes before that and is set in the same world) so when I saw that she has a book in the Mortal Enemies to Monster Lovers series and that the main characters in her book were ones that made cameos in A Touch of Poison , I had to read their love story! Slaying the Shifter Prince, as I mentioned is part of the Mortal Enemies to Monster Lovers series – the same series that Slaying the Vampire Conqueror by Carissa Broadbent is from.

I absolutely loved this book! It follows Sepher, the exiled prince of the Dawn Court, and Zita – an aerial performer. Sepher is a shape shifter and can change into a sabrecat and because some people have prejudice views of shifters, his father – the king – sent him away.

10 years ago, Zita’s older sister was also an aerial performer and was murdered. Zita believes Sepher is responsible for her sister’s death and has plotted revenge. Now it is finally time to put her plan in motion when she is scheduled to perform for Sepher. But when her plan fails, Sepher takes Zita back to his palace as his “pet” as her punishment. Will Zita be able to avenge her sister’s death now that she will be living with Sepher? And the more important question – since there is an undeniable attraction and chemistry between the two, will she still want revenge?

This is a true enemies to lovers romance and it was so good. They truly hate each other at the beginning – Zita because she believes Sepher killed her sister and Sepher because Zita tried to kill him. It is so fun to watch them absolutely hate that they are enamored by the other when they want to just hate each other.

I loved Zita and Sepher and I can’t wait to see what role they play in the final Shadows of Tenebris Court book!

Read this if you want a spicy fantasy romance with the enemies to lovers and forced proximity tropes.
