When you think he’s your enemy, but he says things like…(The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year Edition)
I’ve started to take down Christmas decor, but still have a few things to put away this week like my trees. This photo was taken on Christmas Eve, hence the still wrapped gifts! I’m not in a rush to let go of the holiday magic especially since I was thrust back into work today, but I am also eager to clean up my space.
Anyway, enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes because they are always so fun. But, sometimes only one character thinks they are enemies and the other either doesn’t realize the other one thinks they’re enemies or just fakes disliking the person but secretly likes them. Case in point, The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year. Maggie and Ethan are rival mystery writers with the same publisher. Maggie believes the dislike/hate she has for Ethan is reciprocated, but Ethan actually doesn’t realize that Maggie doesn’t like him.

This gave me the idea to start a series (if I come across more of these books in the near future) of a quote that fits “When you think he/she is your enemy, but then they say things like this…”
So Maggie thinks Ethan is her enemy, but then he says things like, “There’s no way, no universe, no reality in which you aren’t the brightest star in the whole damn sky, and…that’s all I wanted to say.”
Talk about swoon worthy! Ethan definitely makes it onto the book boyfriend list!
