Book Review: The Cherry Crush Flower Shop

I was recently sent a copy of the third book in the Maple Falls series by Harper Graham – The Cherry Crush Flower Shop. It was a fun, fake dating romcom with all the small town romance vibes.

The novel follows Zoe and Jackson, best friends since childhood in Maple Falls. Zoe owns and runs the local florist shop and Jackson, a veteran, works on his family’s farm. Besides being best friends, the two are working on a joint project to help kids learn how to plant flowers and vegetables and how to care for them and provide a therapeutic activity through tending to the flowers and vegetables for veterans as well. The two are very close and one day when Zoe’s mom sees the two hugging through the shop’s window, she immediately thinks they are dating and tells everyone in town. Not only does she spread the rumor, but she puts bets her retirement fund on Zoe and Jackson winning the Couple of the Year contest at the spring festival. Not wanting to let her mom down, Zoe and Jackson decide to play along and pretend they are a real couple. Zoe has had a crush on Jackson since they were kids, but she’s never told him. Jackson has also had a crush on Zoe since they were kids, but he’s never told her. Will things stay fake or become real? Will Jackson allow things to become real when he’s still suffering from ptsd?

I really liked this book and loved Zoe and Jackson. It was a fun, quick romcom and had all the small town vibes that I love. I was contemplating whether to add this to my April favorites list, but I think Jackson’s back and forth and hot and cold behavior towards Zoe got a little old, quick so while I really enjoyed the book I think it just fell short of being a monthly favorite. Overall, I did really like the book and characters. I can’t wait til the next book so I can return to Maple Falls!

Read this if you want a spicy small town romcom with the friends to lovers and fake dating tropes.
