Book Review: Never Ever After
I am a fan of Sue Lynn Tan’s Daughter of the Moon Goddess series so I was looking forward to reading her latest book and first book in her new duology, Never Ever After. I’ve had it on my shelf for a while and just read it this past week!

The novel follows Yining, a young woman who was raised by her adoptive aunt and uncle and then her step-aunt when her aunt passed away and eventually her uncle as well. Living in the Iron Mountains is tough and in order to survive she is forced by her step-aunt to become a thief. When Yining’s enchanted ring is stolen from her by her step-aunt she will go to any lengths to get it back including sneaking into the palace. Once there she meets Prince Zixin, who is about to be crowned king soon, and Jin, an advisor to the rival kingdom of Thorn Valley. Both say they will get her ring back – The prince has the ring, but is using it as leverage to make her stay and Jin says he can steal the ring back for Yining if she helps him look for something hidden in the palace. Will she get her ring back? And as Yining does what she can to keep her ends of her bargains to get her ring back, more questions arise.
I enjoyed this book and loved the lush, rich descriptions of the world the book is set in. I really liked Yining and am looking forward to reading more of her she develops as a character in the next book. I was hooked from the beginning of the novel, but there were some slow parts/parts I think made the story drag at times. But then a plot twist would come or the pace would pick up and it would keep my attention again. I’m looking forward to seeing how this all wraps up!
