Book Review: The Last Second Chance

I just finished reading The Last Second Chance, book 3 in the Blue Moon series by Lucy Score yesterday and loved it.

This novel finally tells the story of Jax Pierce and Joey Greer. From the first two books we know they were best friends since they were little kids and high school sweethearts and then something happened right after high school after they got into a car accident and Jax ended up leaving in the middle of the night and going to California where he became a successful screenplay writer and Joey stayed in Blue Moon after college and running the stables at the Pierce’s farm. No one knows what happened to make him go, not even Joey.

Fast forward 8 years and Jax has been back for a while and living on the farm and helping out his brothers with the farm while still writing for Hollywood. And he’s been clear from the moment he came home – he’s here to get Joey back. But Joey is still hurt from Jax leaving here without a word all those years ago so he will have to seriously make it up to her before she can trust him again. Will Jax be able to win her back?

I loved this book and could not put it down. I loved the back and forth between Jax and Joey and how no matter how sarcastic or sassy she was with him, he didn’t let it deter him and was clear about how he was going to win her back. I also loved learning about their history finally and what really happened. The third act breakup wasn’t my favorite (they never are), but I was happy with how it all worked out in the end and with the ending. I also really loved the epilogue.

This was the last book on the Pierce brothers, but there are still 5 more books in the series so I hope we get good cameos of these original characters in the rest of the books in the series!

This series should be read in order to avoid spoilers, but read this book if you want a small town romcom with the second chance romance trope.
