Here’s How to Pack for a Luxury Trip without Going Overboard

And yes, there was a pun in that title! But really, though, when the average person thinks about a luxury trip, what comes to mind is the Orient Express, yachts, wearing black tie clothes, eating caviar, and just having a no-stress trip in general. So, when you picture these things, it’s very easy to start acting like every outfit needs to be giving the main character at all times. You probably see that enough on TikTok; people tend to dress up to the nines, so it makes sense that you’d think that it’s basically mandatory.
But realistically? Most luxury trips are still trips. There’s still walking. There’s still sitting around at breakfast with slightly tired eyes. There’s still waiting for check-in, wandering around in the afternoon, basically, most of the stuff is about the same, without the giant price tag, of course. Sure, depending on where you’re staying, there might be some dress codes. Likewise,e usually it’s just smart casual and no tennis shoes allowed. But dressing up for a gala every night is honestly pretty unrealistic for her,e too.
Think Nice, But Not Formal
The best outfits for a luxury trip usually live somewhere between casual and dressed up. Again, smart casual was just mentioned, and that’s going to be the best choice here. For example, you might want to think of a linen set, tailored pants, a simple dress, a soft blouse, a good knit, or a skirt that doesn’t wrinkle the second it sees a suitcase, which can all work really well. Of course, this is a great idea if this is the summer of course (and don’t wear tennis shoes).
These are the clothes that can handle more than one part of the day. Basically, the only time they might not work would be dinner, as that sometimes tends to be formal (not always, but usually the expectations are black tie).
Accessories Can Do a Lot
Other than overpacking for clothes, a lot of people tend to overpack their accessories, too. Is that necessarily? Honestly, it’s not, because a simple outfit can look much more put together with the right accessories, and they take up way less space than another pair of pants or another dress that may never leave the suitcase.
Honestly, all you really need is a couple of luxury necklaces (maybe sme that’s simple and one that’s more of a statement piece), one good pair of sunglasses, a couple of pairs of nice shoes (one for walking and one that’s a little more elegant, like elegant heeled sandals), and a small evening bag. Really, the more simplistic, the better. But yeah, in general here, that’s the nice thing about accessories. They let the same clothes do more work without looking like the same outfit on repeat.
And What About the Shoes?
Just like what was mentioned, if this is a luxury trip, such as you’ll be on one of those luxury cruise ships or on a luxury train, you’re usually not allowed to wear tennis shoes inside the area. Sure, outside it’s welcomed and even recommended, but usually tennis shoes/ trainers aren’t permitted. The same can be said about flip-flops, too. Yes, you need to have comfortable walking shoes, but just keep in mind that there might be some expected rules on what to wear when it comes to footwear.
