The Admin Tasks You Should Start Outsourcing As A New Business Owner

When you’re trying to grow a new business, keeping your workflow streamlined as best as possible can make a big difference. To that end, you want to make sure that you’re not spending needless amounts of time on admin tasks that, while important, aren’t going to help you grow the business. The right technology can help you save a lot of time, but there are some things that tech alone can’t handle, and for those, you might need to look at outsourcing instead.

Bookkeeping

One of the first things businesses tend to consider outsourcing is bookkeeping, which makes sure that you have accurate financial records and a thorough understanding of your business’s position at all times. Otherwise, it’s easy to end up missing invoices, making late payments, and confusing your cash flow with how much money you really have at any given point. A professional bookkeeper can keep income, expenses, receipts, supplier payments and bank records organised throughout the year, which also makes things a lot easier when tax season comes.

Payroll

There’s too much potential legal trouble, not to mention conflict with employees, involved in missing a payment to leave it up to chance. If you think there might be a risk of neglecting your need to pay your team what they earned on time, every month, then finding the right payroll services should be considered a high priority. Many employers underestimate the complexity of payroll, including sending out payslips, holiday pay, sick pay, pension contributions, and more. It can take more time than you think, so if you intend to only treat it as a quick, casual monthly task, it’s better to let the pros handle it instead.

IT Support

IT problems can bring a business to a halt, especially when systems, email, websites, payments or customer data are involved. More and more small businesses rely more heavily on their IT scope than ever before, and simply being “good with computers” isn’t enough as you integrate more computers, networks, software tools, and the like. Oustourced IT support can handle troubleshooting, software updates, backups, and cybersecurity on a more regular basis, as well as help with larger tasks like setting up new devices or migrating parts of your business to the Cloud.

General Admin

Sometimes, you might simply be too busy trying to win over new customers and leading your team to handle the basic admin that keeps the business running. If you’re running behind on your email, having trouble responding to customers, or missing appointments, then you might want to consider working with a virtual assistant who can handle everything from managing your schedule to organising your correspondence. Delegating general admin properly can turn a chaotic workload into a smoother, more manageable operating rhythm.

Over time, many businesses decide to integrate some of the tasks mentioned above back into the business. However, while you’re still growing, getting the help you need can ensure that you’re completing all of the admin necessary to keep the business running without having to do it all yourself.
