Book Review: Throne of Nightmares

I just finished the latest Prince of Sin book by Kerri Maniscalco, Throne of Nightmares. This novel follows the Prince Sloth – the brother who has also been more logical than romantic – and Lore Brimstone, a librarian.

Sloth has been searching for the Book of Nightmares for a long time. If fallen into the wrong hands it could free the Goddess of Night so he wants to find it and lock it in his library. But when he is betrayed by his master librarian, Sloth is back to square one to find the book and also track down the traitor. Lore is a librarian who loves romance books. When an old woman gives Lore a stone that can transport her to other places at the same time that Sloth’s tracking of the book leads him to Lore the two are transported into one of the fantasy romance books Lore has read. The two tumble into story after story together with monsters, villains, and adventure as they try to track down the Book of Nightmares and prevent Nyantha, the Goddess of Night, to be freed.

I really loved this book. It is definitely one for the book girlies! I thought it was so unique to have Lore and Sloth go from story to story and it was fun to have them discuss and explore so many different tropes through the books they ended up in. I also loved Lore and Sloth. They were fun and had great chemistry. It was a slow burn, but had a good payoff. Some parts of the book did feel a little drawn out so I think it could’ve been a little bit shorter than it was, but overall I loved the book.

Read this if you want a spicy fantasy romance with the slow burn trope and packed with adventure and romance book appreciation.
