Dinner & A Show: Operation Mincemeat

One of my best friends and I have had a tradition the past few years of getting dinner in the city and seeing a Broadway show once or twice a year. The last show we saw together was Hadestown back in August and it was a fun outing but the show was not our favorite. Some shows we’ve seen together and loved are Six and &Juliet. This time we went to see Operation Mincemeat and we loved it!

It was a hot and humid day so I wore a floral midi dress and Teva sandals into the city. I packed a sweater in my bag in case it was cold in the theater, but I didn’t end up needing it. The sweater also had a hood which I thought might come in handy because there was a chance of rain when we got out of the theater. It did end up pouring but fortunately the rain was while we were inside watching the show so by the time we came out it was just drizzling and the temperature had cooled considerably.

We took the train into the city and walked to dinner at Bond 45 and had a nice dinner of garlic focaccia bread, pasta, and cheesecake. Then we walked around a bit before heading to the theater. The show was funny and so good. We knew very little about the show beforehand, just that it was a British comedy musical that takes place during World War II. And that the show was based on a real operation. It was very entertaining and the actors/actresses were all fantastic. It must be such a tiring show because it’s just 5 of them playing multiple roles so it is nonstop!

After the show we headed back to Penn Station and grabbed some Krispy Kreme donuts since my friend loves getting train donuts and headed home!

Not sure what we want to see next. If you have a recommendation, let me know!
