Book Review: The View from Apartment Four

Happy Friday! This was one of those weeks where I’m not sure if it went by fast or slow. It was also one of those weeks that I couldn’t remember what day of the week it was. During my lunch breaks while working form home I’ve been getting a lot of my reading done. My most recent read has been on my tbr list for months, The View from Apartment Four: On Loving and Leaving New York by Skip Rozin. In this book, Skip Rozin tells of his life experiences, professional and personal, from the 1960s to the 2010s all while his apartment on the Upper West Side of New York…

    Photo Challenge: Smile

Happy Friday! I’m happy to say the work week went by pretty quickly, but I have a ton I need to get done so I wish I had a few extra hours in the day! What I love about photos is that they are snapshots of a memory. Any memory. Something beautiful you saw that you want to hold on to, a loving memory, an adventure, etc. We all have taken photos that when you look back on you can’t help but laugh or it brings a smile to your face. So with last week’s photo challenge, “Smile“, I’m sharing a photo from last summer. If you’ve been following my…

Downton Abbey Exhibit & NYC at Christmas

I love New York City at Christmas time. Every street is decorated and everything looks beautiful and magical. When I saw that the Downton Abbey – The Exhibition was going to be in New York I had to go and the fact that it was during the holiday season made it even more enticing. As luck would have it, it was a snowy day when I went two weekends ago making Christmas-time in the city even more magical. Before I share photos of the Christmas prettiness in the city, let me tell you briefly about the exhibit. If you are/were a fan of the show, the exhibit is such an…

    Photo Challenge: Serene

We made it to Friday! Now that it’s well and truly the holiday season I thought this photo below would be a great photo response to the challenge, “Serene“. I took this photo a few years ago in New York City during my annual outing to see the tree at Rockefeller Center. If you’ve ever been there you’ll know just how insanely crowded it is in that area since everyone wants to see the tree and the Saks light show across the street. But, if you venture a little further away from the tree you can find some quieter streets and it’s actually pretty serene or as serene as a…

That Time I Didn’t Go to the Yankees Game

Intrigued by the title of this post? Keep reading to find out what I’m talking about! So at the end of August, my brother asked my parents and I if we wanted to go to a Yankees game because his boss had given him tickets. Never one to pass up a chance to see the Yankees I was totally in. You may have caught my Instagram stories with videos and photos of the drive from NJ to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx and walking up to the stadium from the parking lot. You might have also noticed I didn’t have any more videos or photos from the actual game after…

    #PostalCodePride in NYC

I grew up in New Jersey, about 45 minutes from New York City. I like where I grew up and for the most part still like the area being less than an hour away from the city in one direction and the beach in another. But when I think of tourist destinations I don’t think of my suburban town but instead of my birthplace, New York City! Not only was I born there, but my mom grew up there, my parents were married there, and my dad still commutes into the city for work every day. All that combined with the fact that I’ve spent my whole life going in…

    Top of the Rock

Happy Friday! If you follow my Instastories then you may have seen that last Friday I went into the city with my cousins who were visiting and we went to the Top of the Rock. Growing up just 45 minutes from New York City, I’ve fallen into that all too common situation where I haven’t done many of the touristy things the city offers. Sure, I’ve visited Central Park, the Museum of Natural History, and the MET numerous times as well as seen multiple Broadway shows, but I’ve never been to the Statue of Liberty or Empire State Building. In fact, aside from being on a plane flying over the city leaving…

    Photo Challenge: Surprise

When I saw last week that the photo challenge from The Daily Post was “Surprise” I really couldn’t think of what to use for my photo. I seriously was wracking my brain trying to find a photo or think of a photo to take that might fit the prompt. Then, last weekend I was in the city to see Anastasia on Broadway. Before the show I went to lunch at Bareburger and shortly before arriving at the restaurant I saw some sidewalk art that made me stop in my tracks to get a picture. This sidewalk art can be found in spots throughout New York City and New Jersey and I find…

  • Bareburger

Yesterday I wrote about seeing Anastasia on Broadway and today I have not one, but two posts also from the day. First up is this short review of my lunch at Bareburger. My friend suggested we eat there because she had once before and really liked it. So we found a location near the theater and headed there for lunch before the show. Everything at Bareburger is organic and all-natural, which is so great. I love that it’s an eco-conscious restaurant! I ordered a side salad, the Kail Caesar and the American Burger. Both were delicious, but the salad really was one of the best salads I’ve ever had! This beautiful and scrumptious salad had…

    Anastasia on Broadway

I’m back to work today after a week off for spring break and I may or may not have been super down about it last night… In any case, I’m back today to talk about the Broadway musical – Anastasia! So Anastasia was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I was going to add it to my post I recently did about movies I loved, but I knew I was going to see the Broadway show so I thought I’d save my thoughts on the movie til now. I loved the movie when I was a kid and if you don’t know what it’s about I’ll give you…
